Great Value
Ok so its a little small but the value is great. Pretty good tasting dishes, right on par with any good Indian food. Great value, for once i couldnt finish my lunch and for under $7. Def a place to check out.

A little disappointed
I was a little disappointed after the reviews. I loved the fact that this place is set up like a cafeteria and therefor, fast and no tipping necessary. However, I ordered the chicken tikka masala and it was a bit disappointing. I have had this dish many times and never did I have a sweet tasting tikka masala. It wasn't horrible but not great and the portions are not as huge as other fast Indian food restaurants. If you order the curry as a side dish, it is smaller and considerably cheaper so ifyoiu love this place, ask them about it. As for the service, the girl behind the counter wasn't as unpleasant as most people who work behind indian counters and she even cracked a smile!! Never seen that at Indian fast food places so I was pleasantly surprised. Not the best value or taste but if you live in the area and want fast Indian, stop by.

Great Value, Good Food, Poor Delivery
I have gotten delivery here several times only because the food is great for the value and they cook it the way you like. However, they have failed to deliver the raita many times (5 times in a row). I have never had a meal delivered correctly.... but food is good and cheap. I recommend the Lamb rogan josh, shrimp masala, and chicken makhani. I do not recommend the cheese naan... barely any cheese (i only saw little crumbs w/ a magnifying glass); dal was extremely bland, samosas are mediocre at best.

Great Value
Having tried some of the Indian places on 6th St and been disappointed, I was very happy to find Darbar East. Delivery is a little slow, but the food is always ready in 10 minutes if you call ahead or walk up. Some of the best Indian food I've had in the city at the lowest prices.

Poor delivery experience
Apparently, this place has great food if you want to dine out. Getting food delivered, however, is another story all together. The reception I got from the person taking my order over the phone was not good at all. Although they were slightly rude [Telling me that it would take a very long time because I was paying with a credit card?], I thoought that once I got my order, all would be forgotten. That was 7:55 p.m.. I didn't 'get my food' until around 9:30 p.m. The restaurant called about twice for my address [even though I live about 9 blocks away]. After that, they called repeatedly to find out if I had gotten my meal...which I hadn't. After taking my address the two previous times, it seemed that the person taking my order gave the delivery man the wrong apartment number. After calling and asking if I could get a discount for receiving my cold food almost two hours late, I was hastely denied that and told that next time I'd get a discount. Right. I'm not going to even consider getting food from them again.

Take Out Heaven
If you're looking for a nice restaurant to sit down and have a meal...this ain't it. But if you're looking for great food at a cheap price...than this IS it. I haven't found better tasting, authentic indian food around here til date. As an Indian, I am satisfied with the level of accuracy of this place...and that says a lot because I am not easily impressed.

Good deal, instant meal
There are usually 4 vegetarian and 4 meat selections on the steam table daily, and combos get you three of these with rice or nan. They also have a full Indian and Nepalese menu if the daily picks don't tickle your fancy. We get take-out here regularly and have always felt we got our money's worth, and more.... A clean and easy neighborhood spot; a meal for two will run about $13-20.
