Since I have worked in the business for a while, it takes a lot for me to want to write a bad review. I live in the hood and walk by this place all the time, have even gotten recommendations to go there. Maybe they have a new cook, or maybe it was an off night (Sunday) but they were out of every type of beer my friend wanted, the carbonation was out on the gun when he decided on a vodka soda instead, and the food was, well, awful. Flat bread was burnt and just tasted, bad, almost like a frozen meal. tomato basil salad, came straight from the grocery store: generic grape tomatoes cut in half, kind of old tasting cheese and not so good oil. I didn't finish any of it and just pushed it around. I don't think I'll be going back, at least not for the food.

I've been loving the food and cocktails at Salt Bar for the last two years that I've lived in the neighborhood. I always thought the staff was knowledgeable and fun, but I guess I could understand why a few other reviewers complained... Anyway, I was in Friday night with four friends and we had a new waitress who turned out to be extremely efficient - she gave us very solid service while maintaining a hip and fun demeanor. We all had a great time! On my way out I chatted with the bartender a bit and it turns out our server was one of two new hires the owner made to make sure there was a solid team on every night. I was glad to see a place I love and always feel comfortable in get even better!

The space is so cute, and on a great block with other GREAT restaurants and bars. The drinks are borderline over priced. I only got small appetizers, the pickle and olives, so I can't judge the food but talk about not really great service. not going back

My boyfriend and I went there with another couple on a Saturday night. The food and service was decent but the portion size was tiny. The skewered beef was 5 miniscule pieces on a wooden stick and the $15 cheese plate was not even close to worth the price.

It was a great meal with great food but just like the other reviews state: cruddy service.

I sat down to a small table with friends and we, quite surprisingly, had one of the best meals of 2006. The meal was the best of everything: the best olive oil, olives, beef wellington, coconut fish, onion tart, and baked brie you could dream of. There's definitely a group of friends that hang out here so that it was sometimes hard to pull the waitstaff's attention away from chatting at the bar. However, the food was delivered promptly and everyone was very kind and welcoming. There's a great ambience for dates or having a slow, good meal with good friends. There's also a long table perfect for a bigger party which we are already planning at Salt Bar.

What a great place! I was in introduced to this spot when I attended a friend's birthday party, which salt bar is great for. I have been back several times and have not been let down. I use menu pages a lot to find new places to try and a lot of the reviews of salt bar seem to be very different then what I experienced. Not only was the food great, but the staff was so nice and fun! If you like great music and a laid back atmosphere give this place a shot. Don't miss the dates, wellington, or ribs!
