I'm disappointed it closed....loved the pizza...the guys were so nice they would deliver to me during a blizzard at 2am.. The people who took it over during the end (final 6 months) ran it down. This strip of Ave A is now missing a good pizza place. Please someone open something other than a .99 pizza place!!

Pizza looked good but somehow managed to have no flavor.

Sal's has been my neighborhood favorite for the past year - their pizza is consistently good, whether it's a whole pizza pie & pasta for a group of friends, or a late night slice.

For me, this is the best traditional New York pizza in the East Village right now. The sauce is well-spiced and the crust has good flavor and is crisp and chewy, but not gummy. The service (time from order to delivery) has definitely gotten better since they moved to their present location. It's not the fastest in the East Village, but I live 4 streets down and 3 avenues over and it usually comes in a little over 30 minutes, somtimes less.

Great pizza, especially the tomato & riccotta, great shrimp parm, but it's tiny, very hot, and on late nights full of party-people from the bar next door. If you can bare that, it's def worth it for the food!

I have eaten pizza all over New York, and I might have to say that Sal's is the best. I go there about every 2 weeks and have never had a bad slice. Also, their garlic knots are to die for! I just wish I lived closer to Sal's so I wouldn't spend so much $$ on cab fare to get there. YUM!
