    Outstanding service!

My boyfriend and I visited Salmon River on valentine's day. Even though we did not have reservations, we were seated right away. Neither of us had dined in the restaurant before, but we had both worked in the vicinity and had had takeout from there. I am especially fond of their Santa Fe salmon, and that was precisely what I planned to order. However, this being V-Day, they had a special prix fixe menu and the Santa Fe salmon was not offered. I expressed my disappointment in not being able to get that item, and the kitchen obliged with a specially made order, just for me. I thought that was extremely nice!

    Tips for the Traveler

Not a bad place; decor is decent and food is fairly good. The service is spotty, ranging from too attentive to a bit rude. On a very positive note, the room service provided to the associated hotel was fast and respectful.

    Underrated delivery option for midtown

I end up ordering delivery from here to work a lot, and it's uniformly great. The tilapia sandwich is great, salmon BLT was really good, salmon and trout entrees were great, the salads are excellent ... I've never had a bad delivery meal from here, and the food arrives quickly and appropriately hot/cold. Random location, but I am a huge fan of Salmon River delivery. Never eaten there in person.

    rip off!

You are paying for the location. You can't eat the location... Buy a piece of salmon and eat it at home.

    great burger and fries

I had tickets to a concert at Town Hall (43rd between 6th and 7th Aves) with over an hour to wait. I combed the area for any restaurant to eat in, but everything was ridiculously over-priced and touristy. I only wanted a burger and fries, but I didn't want to pay $20. I have to say I worked up an appetite while looking, but Salmon River may easily have served the best burger, and the tastiest (crunchy!) fries I've ever eaten! I sat at the bar and the waitress was extremely friendly but not intrusive. I would eat here any time I'm going to Town Hall, and I highly recommend their burger and fries!

    Great experience!

Great food, great atmosphere, excellent service! I would like to thank Carina, the bartender who made my night and my vacation unforgetable. She is a wonderful person, and an excellent bartender. I also like to thank the Romanian girl, the red-hair waitress. Overall, i felt great. It was a pleasure to be there.

    Waste of Time and Money

My friend and I went there to celebrate a few good events in our lives yesterday. We ordered Crispy Fried Calamari as a side appetizer and ordered the pre-fix dinner menu. I had the soup and the Grilled Hanger Steak and she had the soup and Hibachi Grilled Salmon. The waiter brought us bread that was cold and hard as rock with cold butter. We asked them if we could get warm bread. So they took the bread and microwaved it as it came out in a few minutes and was extremely hot. The calamari came out next and was good. The fish and the steak followed. The fish was overcooked. The salmon did not have any moisture left and was chewy. It tasted nothing like a properly cooked salmon. I ordered a medium steak. It came out medium but cold. So the waiter took it back and made it 'warm' and also VERY well done. My friend and I did not bother to complain any more. Finally we had dessert (part of pre-fix) and we both took Tiramisu cake. The cake was very soggy and almost liquid. It did not taste fresh at all. We both left the place very disheartened and sad. We wanted to celebrate something and it turned out to be a disaster of a dinner. On top of that, we paid about $90 there! We understand it may be a random incident at Salmon River, but we were so disappointed that we felt like others should know before they go. When you are a student, $90 means a whole lot to you.
