    Not Recommended

Poor greeting and service set us off to a poor start. What followed was mediocre food and lukewarm temperature for most all dishes. The food was generic 6th Street food served in nicer surroundings. A shame.

    Splendid

I love this restaurant, the food is exceptionally authentic and the atmosphere is relaxing. True value for money. (& very reasonable) Kababa melt in the mouth. alos vegetarian dishes are so delicious. Its the best indian in downtown NYC.

    I'm Lovin' It

I'ts true that ordering from Salaam Bombay isn't great, but going there is. Their service is dependable, and their food is phenomenal. Man their chicken tikka masala tastes like heavenly love. I find the people that work there very kind (except sometimes over the phone) and I've been lovin' Salaam Bombay.

    Best Palak Paneer Ever

I'm a vegetarian and Salaam Bombay was recommended to me as having delicious vegetarian entrees - it was right. I split entrees with two other people and got to try the Malai Kofta, Navratan Curry, and Palak Paneer. They were all fantastic but the Palak Paneer was hands down the best I've ever had - fresh and overflowing with taste. The service is fine - not exeptional but they get the job done.

Curt staff, food not all bad

As I do not dine on Indian cuisine often, I was excited about the new tastes my tastebuds could experience. Before choosing my meal I had some basic questions about the level of spice and ingredients in some of the entrees. I found the server to be a bit perturbed and ultimately curt...so much so that when I asked what was in a particular dish he told me, "don't worry, you'll like it" - that wasn't what I had asked him. My food was just okay... I had had the Goan Fish Curry. I would not order that entree again. My date, however had the Koliwada shrimp dish which was very good.

    A Difference of Opinion

Funny. Most others found the food good and service poor. I thought the service was fine. I walked in and bought a lunch box. Everyone was quite pleasant. Unfortunately, the contents were the blandest interpretation of chicken curry that I've ever tasted. Fricassee might have been a more apt name. Indian food should have some spice in it. They do make good naan though.

    It's Yum-Yum-Yummilicious! Go...

I am an Indian by nationality and a picky eater :(, I didn't leave any rock unturned here in the city for authentic Indian cuisine, untill I found Salaam Bombay, the food here is easily the best indian food in the city. The service is very warm, friendly and prompt. Now I don't worry about my food anymore since I have found something just right for my taste buds and surprisingly my American and other non American friends love it too. So we always end up ordering from here whenever we get together at home....... if you really miss your moms food, here's a way be satisfied and to get true value for your money . Their Malai Kabab is out of this world & their Lamb Chops are awesome too & Hey if you are a vegetarian, you have a whole lot of variety too...go....Highly Recommended.
