Of all the places in NYC..why..? WHY ?! Why hasn´t Hagi got any michelin stars ??? The food is top notch and everything on the menu is good. Even the hamachi sashimi is of better quality than 3 michelin star rated restaurants in town ! If I could I would eat here everyday for the rest of my life ! Love it and will miss it when not in NYC.. Kokoro !

I'll actually travel all the way from W4th for this place, despite a million restaurants being closer. Amazing food, great value, fun atmosphere. Can't wait to go back!

I only say that because I'm still bitter about the closing of my formal favorite sake bar on E43rd. Their food was amazing... I only wish Hagi can step up on the game with their food. Sure, I go there when I have my craving for beef liver sashimi and yakimono. They always have specials that only Japanese born Japanese can really, really appreciate. This is my home away from home. They have food that prepares exactly like they do in Tokyo sake bar. If you know what you like, then you'll cry because no other places in NYC would give you a Japanese comfort food like Hagi does at 2am. If you are lookie just trying... dude, don't know what you are doing but support them. At least you don't have to go all the way down to St. Mark's for Izakaya.

You have to know where you are going in order to find this place. There is a small door which takes you to the downstairs. Cheap bar food and tons of sake and cold draft Japanese beer. I like these places where you can try tons of different little dishes for not so typical NYC prices. I would definitely go again.

Go to Hagi to enjoy a wonderful and reasonably priced range of sakes. The standards are all $7.50 a glass, and one should order them served masu-style for a generous pour. If soju is your preference, you won't go thirsty at Hagi. (Check out the predominantly young Japanese clientele getting sillier and sillier as they down some truly weird-ass soju concoctions.) And if you love really greasy, poorly cooked izakaya fare, you're in luck: Granted, there are some items on the menu that are perfectly acceptable, but order with extreme care.

Was surprised to see this restaurant wasn't rated - it's one of our favorite sake bars in the city, let alone midtown. Great okonomiyaki and an abundance of sake to choose from. Great great restaurant.
