    Abusive waiters

    I've been coming to this place for a few years because the environment is cozy and unique. And time and time again I would always put up with the lousy and rude attitudes of the staff. Finally, the other night, I had enough when our waiter grunted at the task of bringing me a drink, while another literally threw and slammed my food on the table. Being disgusted with the way my friends and I were being treated, I left a 5% tip. Upon realizing this, the waiter came and questioned the reasons for my poor tip. I answered appropriately. Then the manager came, asked me the same question. Upon hearing my complaints of their rudeness, he starting literally shouting and ordered me to leave "his" bar. Literally. After a few exchanges of words, I convinced him to let us finish the food and drinks we had paid for. Once we were done we quietly exited the establishment as the manager threatened us to never return again. In my 28 years of living in New York City, I have in my life experienced such a ridiculous incident. If you do choose to go to this place, prepare yourself for an experience in the world's poorest, most abusive and voilent service.

    It's a habit!

    I need to say that I am impressed with M. Heinz's comment about Decibel because the same exact situation happened to us a few weeks ago with the drinks, the food and then the bill! Looks like that's the way they operate at this place. Drinks were all confused, food never came and was charged... and then there is no way you can prove the dish never came! We just decided to pay for it and leave because our waiter was so convinced and intensely upset, we had no other option. What a waste, such a good place with such poor service.

    poor service

    Stopped by on a Thursday night around 9:00 PM for drinks and a few small plates. Food was decent; not exceptional. The service however, was unbeliveably poor. We felt abandoned and abused. It was impossible to get a second drink and when we finally did grab someone they brought the wrong drink. When I told the waiter, he argued that it was what I ordered.... (although it was a cocktail on ice..and I ordered a plum wine straight up) Only half our food came to the table within the half hour we were waiting. The plum wine never came, and when I complained the waiter said sorry, and still did nothing. I asked for the bill and said, I had enough of this....it never arrived. I then complained to the manager. He then argued with me, told me my drink was correct and they were very busy. Refused to adjust the bill for the drink I did not order and wanted to charge me for the rest of the food we never got. Avoid.

    Cool place, unpleasant service

    My girlfriend and I went to Decibel a few weeks ago. We were very impressed by the setting - we've both been to Tokyo and found it very authentic. We ordered the octopus with wasabi sauce appetizer, which was delicious. The service, however, was abysmal. The waitstaff was beyond unattentive - dismissive would be a better word. It took nearly 15 minutes to place an order; chopsticks had to be requested and were practically tossed in our faces; and the waiter didn't even bother to open the bottle of sake we ordered for us. I can't think of any other bar that I've visited that doesn't open bottles for its customers. It's a shame that such a cool place deigns to treat its customers so poorly. We won't be returning.
