great night out
OK I have read the negative reviews. We've just walked in from a great meal at Siagon 48 for $92 total (for 2)with a bottle of NZ Sav Blanc and a couple of beers. Lemongrass chicken and crispy duck both fantastic. Yes there are no tablecloths and sometimes things are lost in translation between us and the staff but so what? 8/10 overall

Used to be great
I'm not sure what happened but they seem to have changed their whole staff! The food used to be amazing. Now, its just "good." Granted, it is a bit cheaper than many restaurants in the area but the new staff seem a bit rushed, unsure and sometimes rude. I would still recommend you try this restaurant but don't expect a star treatment. Sometimes, they are actually nice... I guess it depends on the time of day you go.

Lightning-quick service at an affordable price
I checked out this restaurant based on the glowing reviews I found on this site, and I must say that the positive ones are pretty accurate. I went here for lunch and ordered the sauteed chicken with ginger-honey sauce, and I was surprised by how much food there was on the plate. Plus, it was very fast as far as placing your meal on the table. I could have sworn that I just made my order, grabbed a napkin and bam, there's my food. And while this restaurant does not have a web site, a flashy exterior or even many online photos of what is offered, it seems to be pretty classy for cheap eats off Broadway. My only complaint would be about the iced Vietnamese coffee. I have been to at least three other Vietnamese restaurants and they all have served it differently. Saigon 48 is no different, but it would have helped to have known that all the cream and sugar was at the bottom of the glass and that you had to stir it. I was stuck drinking black coffee over ice until the waiter saw the glass.

Sub-Par Pho
I was visiting NYC from Boston and was craving a good bowl of Pho. So we tried this restaurant, and when I first walked in I thought "this is nice". The atmosphere was very nice, and the people were very friendly. As for the Pho, they only had one type on the menu (beef). The broth tasted like hot water, and the beef was fatty and didn't look good. I ate around the beef for the most part, and had noodles. I do NOT recommend this place for Pho.

Great for lunch!
Love this place! Food comes out so quick and tastes so good! AND, especially for lunch, it's sooo cheap! It's the best lunch place around here!

Not so great
Wanted to try something new so I ordered in from here for lunch but I won't be doing that again. The food was not so great and they did not include the spring rolls which were part of the lunch special. Then when I called them about the missing part of the order they told me the person in the kitchen said they packed it and they did nothing to credit me or resend the missing items. I do not recommend this place and will not order from here ever again.

Sea bass to die for...
Wandered in here last night with my mom..., vegetable dumplings were DELICIOUS. We ordered the sea bass special too, and it was excellent. Great place to go before the theatre, lovely atmosphere and lots of space, heaping portions.
