Very fresh fish and kaiseiki
We tried our kaiseiki style of dining for this first time at Sachiko. The presentation was exquisite and food was amazing. The sushi was also excellent.

another over-priced restaurant on clinto
The food, although tasty, was over-priced and served in tiny portions. The service was polite if a little absent. The icing on the cake was when, for a change, we ordered wine and we were given tasting portions (literally!) We burst out laughing and the waiter, maybe realizing how foolish it looked, topped off the glasses a little more. Ok, I realize that wine isn't the thing at sushi restaurants but come on. Also, the wine that we were served was one that we get at our local wine store frequesntly and no way is it worth the $12/glass price tag. I don't think I will be going there again. Better sushi options in the neighborhood.

Nice food, service, and atmosphere A+
I just had one of the best Japanese culinary experiences in a long time. Sachiko's on Clinton is an unassuming place on the Lower East Side with excellent service and the ambience and atmosphere perfect for a date or a small group of friends. The were the usual suspects of sush and kushiage but there were some interesting and fun twists to make the seemingly traditional looking menu jump out at you. We ordered the Shrimp and Squid Spring Rolls with wasabi mayonaise, Salmon and Jalapeno rolls, Scallop kushiage, Salmon and Cheese (yes, cheese) Kushiage. I went a little conservative and ordered the Sushi Regular, which consisted of 6 pieces of fresh nigiri sushi along with a roll. With two glasses of sake recommended by our knowledgeable without being pompous or condescending server, the meal came out to about $85 not including tip. Not bad for a really good dinner.

typical sushi place
After countless visits to sushi bars all over the city, I must say this is just another typical sushi bar with nothing exceptional about the food at a taste level. I would say they have a large menu and many picks of alcohol beverages. So the plus here is not so much the sushi bar but the real bar as they have many special mixes involving sake. As like many sushi bars in the city, the food is vastly overpriced with disappointingly small portions. I have a good taste bud for top sushi and would certainly say the fish here is average quality at best (with very very small cuts) and not comparable to top flight sushi places in the city (ie Tomoe, Gari) where sashimi slices are triple the size and actually melts in your mouth. Spending over 90 dollars here for a dinner for 2, my gf and I left the place hungry and looking for Joe's pizzeria for a 2 dollar slice to fill up. I set the bar high for sushi so if you want to spend top dollars for top quality sushi, this is not the place.

One of the best Japanese restaurant inNY
I'm originally from Japan.. so I know the real Japanese food. There are so many Japanese restaurants in Manhattan, but many of them are not authentic. I must say "Sachiko's on Clinton" is one of the best Japanese restaurant I've visited in last 13 years. Everything we ordered was so delicious, especially fresh seafood appetizer, Sushi, and Kushiage(seafood, meat or vegetables lightly breaded in panko and threaded on bamboo skewers and deep fried). Their menu is so unique, best balance of traditional and modern Japanese taste. They offer great Sake and excellent cocktails. Most of all, atmosphere of this restaurant is wonderful.. so cozy.. Staffs are very friendly and the restaurant owner is the most generous, sweet lady who makes you feel like you are having High-end Japanese food at home. If you are looking for authentic, yet very creative exciting Japanese dishes, I definitely recommend to visit Sachiko's on Clinton.

The best Japanese since Japan
If you want the real thing, go to Sachiko's. It is by far the best place for the money. Sachiko, the owner knows her food and treats you like a guest in an intimate dinner party. I know that it is only time til this place gets like the Sushi of Gari and Donguri on the Upper East Side.Remember when it wasn't madness and it was really a neighborhood place, all of you the real food lovers and not the rest of you that read and believe the hype in Zagats?

Best Japanese!!!!!
Sachiko is the best host in the world. She greets everybody! Her menu is a delight, it's inventive, perfectly prepared. The jewelry box is an incredible adventure (I recommend to order each his own and to eat each piece at the same time). Bravo! You are my favorite Japanese in the city.
