Sabor A Mexico

I am from Southern California and have been going to Mexico my whole life, which makes me a very picky critic. I haven't found any authentic mexican in NYC. There are a lot of fancy mexican restaurants but no where for just tacos and burritos until now. Sabor just opened on 77th and the food is excellent. The beans are soupy and flavorful, the flour tortillas are fresh and thin as can be. The only down fall is the rice- too American style and boring. The spicy pork was great as well as the carne asada. I would have liked a bit more hot sauce (red chili style rather than tomatillo style) but it was fine. This is "to go" place for sure, the seating is limited and doesn't have high chairs. Also, decent prices for NYC standards.

I live in the neighborhood and love this place! It is small but charming and has great service. The food is delicious and very reasonably priced. I especially love the shrimp chimichangas, rice and sangria! I recently had family in town visiting and we went to several of the popular, touristy restaurants while they were here. At the end of their trip they all agreed that Sabor a Mexico was their favorite meal!

I discovered this place while looking at apartments one weekend AND I love it. Fresh food and great service. The guacamole is wonderful (I am picky about my guac). You get a lot of food for your money too (always helpful in NYC). I told my neighbors about it and they love the place too.

Ordered delivery, food was on time and was ok but not outstanding. Nice friendly service though and ok fine overall.

I'm from California, so I can be a little picky about my Mexican food. I LOVE this place. The guacamole is OUTSTANDING, and all of the food I've tried so far has been great. So far this is my favorite place in NY for Mexican food. The place is family-run, and everyone I've met there is really nice. The only downside of the place is that they don't serve margaritas. But for food alone, I highly recommend it!

The food in this place is very good. The staff really aims to please. Portions are nicely sized and the flavor is authentic! A very very good value-not your USUAL Manhattan prices. Not many tables but diners are not "on top of one another". The decor is a little corny but that too seems authentic (alot of little Mexican souvenirs displayed-the kind you buy on vacations) Highly recommend!
