    Ryan doin' right

After walking all morning our group of 8 needed to refuel. Met James (our server) outside and asked him if Ryan's was a good place to eat. He lied... He said the food was great and the beer was cold but the service was poor. The food was phenomenal, the beer was frosty but the service was not poor.... James lied.. The service was great too!!

    Best clam Chowder

We only had 1 hour to find a place to eat. We stopped in and decided since we had a big dinner to go to later to keep it quick and simple. The Calamari was good but the Clam Chowder had to be the best I have ever had. Loaded with clams and not heavy with heavy cream. I would love to have the recipe.

    Beautiful Restaurant, disappointing food.

Beautiful place, charming atmosphere, a very friendly staff. Unfortunately the food is sub-par. The hamburger tasted liked a pre-cooked generic patty. Dry, no seasoning, no juices. The bun was way too large, very dry. The french fries were frozen. and poorly cooked. Their Fish and Chips were somewhere along the caliber of what you would buy in your frozen food section, perhaps not as good. The chips, frozen, soggy and undercooked. And the side of slaw tasted like it had been fermenting in a bucket for weeks. Too bad the fantastic charm of this place fails to deliver with it's food.

    Service could be better...

Cute irish bar/restaurant. Food is standard fare for such places. The service was fast. But, we didn't get a check, they just ran our card which had been behind the bar. When I asked for the breakdown of the check, to see what I was paying for I was told they lost it and could not reprint it? hello. Who just pays a total amount without seeing the actual check. When I made a slight issue of this, suddenly my check was available. Strange... To be honest, I think they wanted our table, wanted to rush us out and thought we were tourists who would tip poorly. Incorrect on both accounts. I always tip 20% at least. But on this occassion, I stiffed her with less than 10%. The tip reflected the service. If you cannot provide me with the courtesy of a check, then I canonot provide you with a decent tip. Heads up folks, just because you hear an accent does not mean that I don't work two blocks away...

great little find in lower manhattan

We were looking for a less touristy place near the seaport and found this little place on a side street off Fulton. We keep going back. Great burgers, awesome service, cute pub atmosphere and prices much lower than 2 blocks away in the seaport area.
