Wonderful breakfast
We really enjoyed our breakfast here. The french toast was absolutely delicious! We were seated quickly and waited on promptly.

Nice but slow
We had breakfast here on a Sunday morning. Forgot how busy these places get for breakfast. Seated really quickly and with no reservation! But found out there was only 2 coffee pots for the whole restaurant. There was a constant queue at the door and service was very slow, the coffee was cold by the time we managed to get milk and sugar. But saying that the food was very good when it arrived. Eggs benedict were very tasty. Would eat there again just to see if they have found more coffee pots ;-)

Open late and variety of foods
I brought my son, daughter, and their friends after a yankee night game so it was after 10:30 pm. We enjoyed a combination of sushi and other foods. I find the prices to be resonable considering it is one of the only non-nightclub type of restaurants opened late into the evening. We will be going back after another night game later in sept. Oh by the way my daughter ran into a cast member from mad tv in the ladies room!

Rue 57 Tuna Salad not recommended
We got a gift certificate to eat here and decided to go for lunch. As another reviewer noted, the bread was a bit burned. I ended up having the salmon club sandwich, which was decent, though somewhat bland. It came with a salad with too many potatoes and too few greens. Dressing wasn't so memorable. My wife had the Rue 57 Tuna Salad. Sounds like a signature salad, doesn't it? But she was very disappointed with it. It came in a big heap, with lots of tuna. The minute she sampled the tuna, she gave me an odd look and then said, "I could swear that this tastes like canned tuna." So, I sampled it too, and alas, it really DID have that distinctive taste of canned tuna: oily smell, hard texture, grayish color. There was no shortage of the tuna throughout the salad and this really ruined it. Throughout the meal, we were both trying to imagine how a good, fresh piece of tuna could be prepared to look and taste like this, but we were hard pressed. So, when the table was cleared and the waitress came and asked us about our entrees, I had to address the issue of the tuna in her salad. I explained that it was too hard, too overcooked. She listened and then explained that it was "chopped tuna." When the expression on my face didn't change, she continued, "it's from a can." There it was, in her own words. She also mentioned that it was a very popular dish and that lots of people ordered it. Well, that's hard to believe. In any case, need I say more?

Excellent
Just try the open faced tuna club, and you'll see what we mean!

Breakfast Behold!
Went there the morning of our flight out of JFK.. Ordered the banana pancakes, extremely delicious! Ordered side of fresh fruit, and it was the freshest fruit I tasted during my weekend trip in the city. Service was excellent, would dine with them again during my next stay. too bad I only discovered it my last day!

Fun brasserie and good food
Mussels dijonnaise are great! The service is always pleasant and efficient. Considering the tough job the waiters have at this restaurant (the kitchen is downstairs) I think they all do remarkably well and all with a smile. I have always had a good meal here, from the steak frites, to the miso-glazed sea bass, to the wonderful thick, juicy burger. For mid-town dining, you can't go wrong with this fun, popular brasserie.
