Not worth a first or second visit!!!!

We visited this restaurant on Saturday, May 17 - we were able to get a seat very quickly but we landed with the snootiest waiter who clearly did not want to wait on us. We had to beg him to bring us water, and the straw and we had to pass on the lemons after we saw him moving them around the plate with his bare hands. We had to beg for the bread which was only warm in middle and . The waiter kept up a conversation with the 2 gentlemen at the next table, telling them the best place to stay when they returned and things to do in the town etc. as we were ignored. He found his way to their table every free moment he d!! When we finally got the waiter's/New York tour guide's attention in order to place our dinner request he wanted (with a snarl in his voice) to know where we were from and what we were doing in town - we explained that we were from DC and came to the opera. He said, "Oh good, I though you were part of the street fair crowd!!" I guess the money from the street fair crowd is less valuable and must be in a different currency. The apple dessert was supposed to be warm to hot - it was warm only in the middle. It seems that someone is using a candle to heat the food in this restaurant and by the time it heats they are still in the middle. The service is bad and the food is not that specatular that I would go again or recommend.

    So unpleasant experience

I was there for Sunday brunch and i had the most unpleasant experience in my life. Listening advise from waiter i had Lobster, Corn and Hash Potatoes. Apparently, i couldn't even taste the lobster...i found only one little piece of it. Hash potatoes was overcooked and had a nasty smell of used oil... Terrible food!

    sub par at best

Was just there for brunch on Sunday, I guess I would say the quality is not reflected in the price.... I have no problem paying for great service and good food but this wasn't either. The waiter had an over powering body order issue, the omletes were just okay and the muffin basket had 3 for a table of 4... Overall not a recommend experience !

    So-so

I came here for dinner with a few friends. First, they burnt our bread that comes in our bread-basket and tried to pass it off as some fancy, "country-style" bread...not good! I ended up getting the mini kobe burgers as my entree. The fries are alright and burger is ok....nothing really stood out or popped out @ me on this menu...If I came back, I wouldn't expect some amazing and unusual/outstanding meal....

    Poor experience

I recently had breakfast at Rue 57 with my parents and the service was not good. I have never in my seven years in this city experienced such poor service. There must have been three waiters for the whole place with about 10 busboys who could have cared less. The food took forever and they forgot half of our sides but did not forget to charge us for them. The eggs were pure salt and the "endless coffee" is a lie. You're lucky if you even get a second cup! I had to constantly look for a server to bring us menus, to take our order, for refills and to even take our check. We ended up leaving cash with a tip of less than 10% after being ignored for 10 minutes. I personally would have left zero. Don't go here because the waiters are some of the worst in the city and you can make this food at home for a fraction of the cost!

    great brunch

i went here for brunch one saturday as a second choice and was a little hesitant at first because the reviews i read weren't fabulous. but i had the french toast with strawberries and it was spectacular. our waitress was pleasant and our food came really fast. the iced tea was even good, with a hint of vanilla in it. the value was great and service was really good---would definitely go back here again.

A wide range of good choices

Rue 57's menu spans runs the gamut from sushi to French and Italian dishes to hamburgers. The sushi offerings are inventive-and very good. The Thai spicy tuna roll is an excellent choice if you like spicy, and the Red Dragon eel roll artfully pairs tuna and eel. The hamburgers are excellent as well. The desserts are excellent-the Valhrona molten chocolate cake is highly recommended. It can be a little loud, but it's not overwhelming, and the decor is very nice. an excellent spot-everyone is guaranteed to find something on the menu to their liking
