The "Bronte" is the best burger on the planet
Again: The Bronte is the best burger on the planet. Period. End of story.

good food, good place, subpar service
"Just 5 more minutes mate." Heard that about 3 different times while waiting for my delivery. The final count: 1 hour and 15 minute for a sandwich and salad. and i live literally across the street. What a waste, and unfortunately this isnt the first time. its a shame- the food is good and i like the people who work there personally. but i will never waste my time ordering from here again and i suggest you dont either.

best burger
i don't care what anyone else says about this place -- their burgers are hands down some of the best in the city. the flavor of the meat combined with the sweet chili sauce/cheese/bread choice is out of this world. i have been coming here consistently for 2+ years and bring a different friend every time and they end up falling in love too. don't try to order pasta -- stick with the burgers or sandwiches!

cute place with great food
a friend suggested ruby's when I was in the area and I have already gone back twice! cute atmosphere with really good food. the bronte burger was amazing!!! prices are decent and didn't really notice anything good or bad about the service, I would definitely check it out.

Never again.
We've been neighborhood residents for 5+ years and order in at least 4 nights a week - we will never order from here again. The service here is pretty bad. Having previously only eaten the Pumpkin salad, we decided to venture into new territory by ordering the Apple Walnut Salad, two pastas, and the vegetable soup. First, the delivery guy delivered the wrong order and the waitress screened my six calls for 10 minutes before I opted to call from a different phone number, whereupon the call was answered in .02 seconds. Our salad had no dressing whatsoever - it consisted of dry spinach leaves covered with bad-smelling prosciutto and inedible homemade 'toffee', which was so thick and hard it almost took a tooth out. Second, the "Rigatoni al Ragu" was actually not rigatoni, but mushy spaghetti smothered in random bits of beef and cheese. Lastly, my girlfriend ordered the vegetable soup because she is a vegetarian and it was clearly made with beef broth - there was animal fat rimming the lining of the container. No complaints about the Coca Cola other than the fact it took them two deliveries to get it here. The hostess insisted the 'toffee' was great (homemade!) and meant to be on the dish and that the vegetable soup was strictly vegetarian. Honestly, don't waste your time arguing with a customer - you just lost one.

Good food good service ok value
Whaleys Burger which had pineapple, beets, and fried egg. Amazing. I was a little upset that the burger comes with a side salad instead of fries but the salad dress better than the burger itself! The service was what should be expected when at a small one-man kitchen neighborhood spot. We had a new waitress who was friendly and give great recomendations. Sure, the food took a couple minutes but the whole atmosphere lended to the laid back relaxed mindset so we couldnt really stress abou tthat. The place is a bit cramped but its cozy on a cold winter night. It doesn't seem that expensive but a Burger ($12.50) and a beer ($7) plus tax/tip meant paying $25. Which seems its a little steep for a burger and beer. Recomended for: neighborhood people looking for a unique cozy place. Not Recomended for: Tourist looking for a fancy place to eat. Or if you have a group of more than 4 people.

great food poor service
I've been coming to Ruby's since it opened several years ago. The food is consistently great but the service is not good at all. In the past couple of years it has gotten worse and worse. I live in the neighborhood and am constantly recommending it, but I may have to stop due to this problem. Just had lunch there with friends from out of town and was mortified when the waitress slammed one of the drinks into my hand, no apology or even recognition that it had just happened, brought water to the table after several requests, basically ignored us when we asked for places settings and didn't bring us our change when we made sure to ask for it back, honestly thought we said keep $16 on a $45 bill! Do something about the staff, keep the cooks!
