Poor food, poor service, nice atmosphere

I'm generally easy to please when it comes to food, and I tend to rate almost every restaurant I go to positively. Ruby Foo's is the exception. The food was pretty horrible, and I love pan-asian food! The sushi was not fresh, and the entree's were barely edible. This after they "accidentally" gave our table away after waiting for 20 minutes, and made us wait an extra 20 minutes to be seated. I don't mind dropping big money on a nice dinner, but the prices for this place were exorbitant considering the poor quality of the food they served. Won't Return.

    A tuch of Broadway

This restaurant is great. I have been at leat 10 times, and the sesame crusted tuna is the best. The service is very very slow, excpect to be wating a while. The food does not come out hot enough though. The tempura sushi is outstanding. Enjoy a touch of Asia!

    Tourists

If you're a tourist it's expected you go there with its Times Square location; but, if you're a New Yorker respect yourself. Go to a real Japanese/Sushi restaurant. Its not like there's not enough of them. The food at Ruby is just franchise and the wait staff ignorant.

    Average

The food was just average however i did enjoy the dim sum sampler with the sauces. We were seated immediately and the service was great.

    worst sushi i've ever had

I have had some of their main dishes which are very, very good. Their sushi on the other hand is absolutely horrible. It had a strange odor which should have tipped me off but it didn't. Even the crabmeat tasted funky..how can you mess up crabmeat??? I left a roll and half on my plate and I never leave without finishing sushi. Word to the wise, price is no indication of quality...avoid the sushi.

    Great Apps & Desserts

Sushi is very good - especially the asparagus/avocado/cucumber rolls. The red/yellow/green sauces they bring to dip are FANTASTIC! Green tea ice cream sandwich is also very good. The main dishes were lacking, though, and the service wasn't that great (although it was speedy). Go in expecting a touristy, Times Square atmosphere...order sushi/apps and desserts...and you will be pleasantly surprised.

    Interesting Mix

I've been to Ruby Foo's twice and both times were great. There is a nice mix on the menue, the wait staff was attentive and had a good sense of humor, and the drinks were fantastic. I really enjoyed the Asian Margarita and have been trying to recreate it at home with no success. So....I guess I'll have to go back soon!
