I was looking forward to this place because of reviews and while it wasn't super terrible, it wasn't something I would revisit. The broccoli rabe wasn't bad but it lacked salt. The pizza was like a crisp bread and the mozzarella was soy based I believe. It is not run by Italians.

My 76 year old father chose this restaurant rubirosa. I was so delighted as he usually chooses dumpling restaurants and really old school pizza parlors to eat. I loved that he picked a delicious foodie hotspot that i have been eyeing for a while. My father a native of greenpoint, brooklyn;his family owned a sausage shop in greenpoint and we all were raised on the most heartwarming, nourishing cooking of his mother who lived to be 98 years old. the eggplant parm at rubirosa put a smile on our faces and reminded us of our nona. as well the bracciole was melt in your mouth deliciousness. this is a place where the kitchen has soul, spirit and a true respect for italian cooking. upon leaving my father warmed by the familial flavors and a genuinely friendly man started talking to the host about his background. This man playing host was so uncomfortably nasty and literally said aloud oh, daddy had a good dinner? unless, you are looking for italian food with an attitude....i recommend choosing one of the 982 other italian restaurants in downtown ny because as a native to soho and someone who believes people over 60 matter...this place is disappointing.

Got a few glasses of rose, the vodka pizza, the black and white tagliatelle, and asparagus. Pizza is always delicious but that tagliatelle was ridiculously good. Perfectly cooked, sauce coating evey bite, and a generous portion. Asparagus I don't even remember.

Had been during colder weather and loved it but Rubirosa is definitely not a destination eating experience in the summer. It's pretty hard to fully enjoy the rich & gut-busting food when the A/C seems to be woefully weak and it is ~100 degrees outside. Lasagna for two plus hot weather minus air conditioning equals a pretty unpleasant meal.

Me and my cousin just 'happened' upon this place and we were not disappointed. There was a 20 minute wait to be seated and as the bar is narrow, it was packed. We waited outside which wasn't great but once we were in that was forgotten. We were in a chabby chic dining area that was really "homey". We ordered a delicious pizza brunch special that was out-of-this-world. The drinks were great too. I highly recommend going here if you are looking for a fun tasty ny experience. I'm going back with my family during the holiday season.
