Easy and tasty vegetarian lunch!
I wanted to write to let people know that the spinach empanada does not have cheese in it (contrary to the earlier reviewer's assumption). In addition to spinach, it has tofu and nutmeg in it. It may not be what you would expect, but I like it! And, you can get it in whole wheat dough. While it is true that the edges of the empanada are a bit dry, I prefer that to something that has been fried and is greasy. I wouldn't consider most the veggie options here traditional, but I come here, because they have so many veggie options. If you work in the area and are vegetarian, it's an easy and convenient lunch. The spicy tofu and veggie chili are my favorites.

Better than what I had heard.
This is a review for the Ruben's by Broad St. I was pleasantly suprised. I had heard that this place was a rip-off. I got a very satisfying empanada, plus rice+ beans for about 9 bucks. The rice and beans was so much that I had to leave it in the fridge for another day. As for the empanadas, the one I tried was pretty darn good. I had the spicy chicken one. It was tasty! They have a wide variety of Argentinian style empanadas including savory and sweet ones. I plan to go back to try all the different ones...

Cheap lunch
It's good for a quick, inexpensive lunch, but it's not great food. There's hardly and seating and no bathroom so take-out is the best option for sure.

Bad Spinach empanada
Just ate a spinach empanada with black beans and rice. The crust was cardboard tough and bland. The stuffing was a crime. Basically spinach melted with cheese which might be good unseasoned as it was, but the cheese had this sour milk aftertaste that muted the spinach completely and any semblance of spice. The rice and beans were passable which might be good if this place were call Rueben's Rice and Beans. The only thing that redeemed this meal was that I got everything plus a diet pepsi for $10. Had the crust been better, I might give this place a second chance.
