I have been here many times. The BBQ is consistently good. The service is hit or miss. The hush puppies are disappointing and I do not recommend. I had 1 hushpuppy from the basket and immediately pushed them to the side. They remained untouched until the end of the meal. An observant guest attendant would have noticed that there was an issue when an entire dish is untouched. It IS a rib joint and there are no table cloths so my service expectation are low.

I have been to RUB a few times. Today was the first time that they actually had burnt ends available. I think I am going through withdrawal. I normally put away a fair amount at RUB. I was full after 1/2 the burnt end dinner. They were ridiculously good. I really want to go polish off the left overs but will save them for tomorrow, I doubt they will make it to dinner. Bonus points for having $3 draft beers at happy hour including Abita and Ommegang, two of the best! Just out of curiosity, how does the staff stay trim? I get the vinegar based cole slaw and either bakes beans or greens as sides as they are the only remotely healthy things on the menu. I am not complaining though. You won't be hungry for quite some time after RUB.

We went here just to check out a new BBQ joint since we've tried just about everything else in the city. The second we tasted the pulled pork, bbq ribs, and onion strings we both wondered why the heck we hadn't come here before? The service was super friendly and fast (saturday afternoon), but the ambiance isn't much to write about. All in all this is our new favorite BBQ joint. Still drooling from the fried oreo's...yum!

i dont like my meats flooded in bbq sauce, so i was pleased to find out they do dry rubs. besides the dry rub, it was also very tender. i also had the wings (but without the sauce), and they also had a dry rub on it which was excellent and meaty (not like the usual measly wings in most places).

I ended up here for a biz dinner. The place is more of a joint then anything else and i liked the casual feeling. We did it up family style and shared Baby back ribs, Burnt ends, Pulled pork, Chicken and Pastrami. All the food was excellent. The Burnt ends were my favorite. Superj uicy. smokey little bits of goodness. We had all the sides which were very good also. The standouts were the baked beans(best ever) and the Onion string. The sevice was also good. Friendly and attentive. This place also does free refills on soda. This must be the only place in NYC that does that. Anyway, my group and i really enjoyed.

Yes the St. Louis ribs here are the equal of any I've had including Daisy May's and Virgil's. It is the sides at this place that fell short. Baked beans were in a syrupy sweet sauce. And a watery one at that. Greens of the day (collard and mustard greens) were dry and lacked seasoning. Rice is not offered as a starch. It's too bad because with good sides, this place would close in on perfection in my book. Great beer selection for a barbeque joint. Front room tables with a floor to ceiling window to watch the foot traffic in Chelsea. Or back tables for a cozier experience. I thought the service was excellent. "Runners" deliver the food so even if your waitress is busy, your meal comes out in good time and hot.
