RUB - Righteous Urban BBQ

Took a date here, we both ordered the Southern Fried Chicken Tenders for Appetizer, they came out awful, they were cook in old oil very very dark and tasted like grease, so instead of ordering dinner we just paid and left.

Went there and ordered their best offerings, e.g., $45 sample platter, multiple sides, etc. Overly salty, overly dry. Totally lackluster. Bill was over $100 for two. Not close to being worth it.

Had the ribs here the other day and they were not good at all. I like my ribs to have meat that fall off the bone and these were tougher than leather. There are not too many rib joints in NYC which is sad, but this place should definitely not be considered if you want good ribs.

The only words that come to mind when I think Rub is....BURNT ENDS! They were magnificent. I have never tasted BBQ that was so flavorful, moist and juicy. We dined at this restaurant twice before, but both times they were out of BE. I now see why...They were amazing.

I Found this place here on menu pages. I've been a few times and i like it a lot. I love the flavor of the BBQ here. It's not sauced so you get the real smoke flavor. I've tried almost everything on the menu and found no losers in the bunch. Favorites are the ribs, pastrami and brisket. Sides are all really good with beans and strings on the top of my list.

i was really disappointed by this place. the brisket and ribs were dry and barely room-temperature, almost cold. it was like eating someone's leftovers. and what kind of bbq place doesn't a have mac and cheese side! that was a sad discovery. fries were super salty and overpriced, though tasty. the staff was nice and attentive enough. the decor and atmosphere of the actual space is pretty drab, but it was at least fairly quiet; i feel like bbq places are often too loud. i'd go to dallas bbq over rub any day, even if it's louder.

Been there twice-- the first time had some of the specialties and they were ok. The second time I went in the staff was so rude that I did not even stay to eat. Will I go back a third time? Probably not....
