Excellent meats! The pitmaster really knows his bbq thing. However, we got take out for first experience and when we arrived home (not around the corner), found the order order did not include large baked beans. We verbally went over order before leaving restaurant, and we were assured it was all there. Silly us, we should have opened everything and looked. Then noticed that the "large" side that costs double the "small" side is far from double the amount. Restaurant was sorry for not including beans and suggested we return for credit. Two days later, we returned and got a refund for large beans ($7.25 which manager said included $7.00 for beans plus tax--must be the tax rate in Kansas) and we pointed out that the large side was not twice the small side, enen though it costs twice as much. Manager said, well, the large is a pound, or whatever weight, and was enough food for two people! What this has to do with the size/price issue, we couldn't tell you! Then said they were aware of the portion/price problem as pointed out by other customers, and "they were working on it". Well, we hope so but will give them time to get "the "front" of the house in order to catch up with the pit.

I can't really rate the food because I really didn't get to eat much of it. By the time we were seated they were out of EVERYTHING except cole slaw! Funny thing was it wasn't even that late 8:30PM. Oh also, no alcohol but I hear that is only temp.

I went last week and this place is by far the best bbq in town! Finally a real bbq place. I had the sample platter and everything was great. I really liked the brisket and the ribs. All of the sides were excellent also. Go early they run out of food.

Some issues that the staff need to work out in regard to service, but that will come with time. Was told they have been open just over two weeks and it shows. I thought the food was very good. I have eaten in BBQ joints around the country and this place could be stacked-up against most if not all. I had their sampler platter with a selection of meats and topped it with a 1/4 rack of ribs. I really enjoyed the pastrami and the sausage. The pulled-pork and brisket was good too. The baby-backs were moist and tender, but not overcooked and falling off the bone. I had two sides, a vinegar based slaw that was good and baked beans that were the best I have ever had; Smokey with chunks of meat. I didn't use a lot of the sauce provided because the meat didn't need it, but it certainly tasted good and fresh. I tried some of my GF's duck and it was great too. As with the pastrami, it wasn't like anything I has tasted before. What I found great was that they sell out of food to keep things fresh. They purposely undercook for the day so that they don't have leftovers. Sounds like a great way to keep the quality up. All in all, if they can make it thru the new restaurant issues I think they have a hit on there hands and have upped the barbecue standards for NYC.

I had (and still have) really high hopes for this place, hopefully once they get up to speed things will be better. Possibly they are having the same smoker problems that bluesmoke had for a while. In any case, the brisket was very dry and lacking any smoky flavor. The ribs were worse, the meat was chewy and had a very weird taste. The burnt ends were okay, a little too fatty for me, but they did mention that on the menu so that's no fault of theirs. Sides were excellent, best bbq beans I've had in the city. Sauce was good as well, I needed it to choke down the meat. In a lot of ways they seemed to have gotten it right. I liked the space, and the fact that it was on the casual side. The staff was also very nice despite the fact that they were very crowded. I'll cross my fingers and go back in a month or so, hopefully they'll get it together eventually.

Finally a real barbecue joint in the city. This place has it all, pulled pork, brisket, pastrami, ribs, all are awesome. The barbecue sauce is unreal. Puts Blue Smoke to shame. It is also run like any barbecue place you would find in kansas city! Amen!

The best damn BBQ in the city bar none! R.U.B. has quickly ascended to the city's pantheon of Q. Great ribs, pulled pork and sausage. Mmmmmmore, please.
