Had a great experience at Rub. The food was really good. I had a three meat combo plate with brisket, bbq chicken and st. Louis style ribs. The brisket was just a bit over cooked, but still tender and delicious. The bbq chicken was super moist with a nice crisp skin and the ribs were very meaty and delicious. But the best part of the experience was the super friendly staff. They really were pleasant and very attentive. Definitely recommend Rub...I will dine there again!

I grew up eating BBQ and Rub knows how to do it Right. I read a few of the comments and I don't think most of these people have ever had real BBQ. Real BBQ restaurants run out of bbq, it's the nature of the beast. Things that can take 15-18hrs to cook can't always be ready on demand, and thats a good thing... On to the food. Ribs- Perfect, not over cooked and falling off the bone(fyi-that means over cooked). Pulled pork waqs nice and tender with a great smoke flavor. Burnt ends have already been spoken about there greatness. Maybe even the best bite of bbq on the east coast! All the side were very good with the standout being the baked beans. Also, they have very nice servers. Next time i'm back in NYC i'll be back to try the rest if the menu. Happy eating

I had heard about RUB from a friend, and althought it got bad reviews online I decided to try it anyway. Big mistake. The meat was so DRY and tasteless, I could barely swallow it down. The appetizers were mediocre at best. I have nothing good to say about the food here. The only good thing I will say is that our waiter was fantastic.

I do not dispute the reviewer below's knowledge of bbq ribs but I must point out that when I went to RUB last night.... THEY RAN OUT OF RIBS. yeah thats right, a bbq joint with no ribs (and no burnt ends). TOTAL AND COMPLETE FAIL. As far as the rest of the meal goes it was ok, and shockingly inexpensive considering there were 7 of us and everyone was drinking ($35 each). The duck was a huge portion and ok. I did like the hush puppies, potato salad and pulled pork. brisket and pastrami were dry, with not enough fat. The bacon app was great but small portions (get the chopped not strips). all in all id say dont go out of your way for this place but if your in the area and craving some bbq, its better then no bbq.

For everyone who keeps expecting their ribs to be "fall off the bone". That is not BBQ. Good ribs have some texture and adhere to the bone after biting. This is the sign of expertly cooked ribs and that's what they do here. If you want "fall off the bone" ribs go to applebees where they boil it and then grill it with some sauce. It takes 8 hours to properly smoke a proper rib and only 25 mins to boil and sauce. If your criteria for good ribs is "fall off the bone" you know nothing about BBQ. For the criteria of texture, smoke ring, and taste RUB is the best in NYC. Also understand that BBQ is not cooked to order, so most things will come about room temperature. That's just the nature of the beast. Go down south and you'll see. The reason why some places have warm ribs is because they grill them to heat them up. This unfortunately causes some loss in the smoke flavor. I'm saying it's good or bad, that's just how it is.

I picked up some takeout on the way home. Ribs for me and their portabella sandwich for my vegetarian girlfriend. The ribs were the polar opposite of "fall off the bone." They were pink, and tough, and impossible to eat. The portabella sandwich, though, was actually very delicious, and the bbq sauce they gave on the side was quite good. The fries were okay -- but I'm always disapointed if mashed potatoes are not an option. Service was friendly and efficient. But very subpar all around.
