Sure, it is probably better in Kansas City or Texas, but as New York BBQ joints go this is the best I have been to so far. I read the reviews and checked it out tonight after trying just about every other spot in the city and Brooklyn. I had the two meat platter with Smoked Turkey & Pastrami with Baked Beans and Fries. The turkey was great, the beans full of smokey flavor and the pastrami, was very good as well. The portions are huge and I was not able to even come close to finishing anything, and I like to eat. Finished it all up with the fried Oreos and enjoyed the three I took home later for breakfast. The menu is a big and has enough things on it that I would go back to try them out. One note, if you are looking for a beutiful location, don't go. This is a BBQ joint, brown tables and chairs, beer in a plastic cup. All in all a good spot.

After walking out of a different restaurant we decided to try RUB. Had the 1/2 BBQ chicken with the vinegar cole slaw & green sides. I have to say it was delicious. Now, this is the simpler items, but everything was tasty and cooked perfectly. Can't speak for the other items, and would probably not eat them, but what we had fit the bill, and was pretty reasonable as well. Not much on atmosphere but was good for a quick lunch.

Went for lunch yesterday. Ribs were served cold, fries were soggy, pulled pork sandwich was served on a flimsy hamburger bun. Maybe an off day. Not worth the $40 tab at the end of lunch.

This place is plan old good. It's bare bones, down and dirty, real deal bbq. I ordered a 3 meat plater with pulled pork, burnt ends and baby back ribs. All were excellent. I also had a side of beans and the onion strings. both very good. my girl friend had the turkey which was also very good. The deep fried oreos are a must!! Service was quick and with a smile. I'll be back to try the rest of the menu. Good luck in all your food hunting...

I have to say it was just average. After reading The Best of NY magazine issue (where RUB was rated Best BBQ), I was expecting something really good; maybe I expected too much. The atmosphere, the disposable plates and cups did not bother me that much because it is a BBQ joint. We got the sample platter with all the different kinds of meats and two sides. The meat is lacking a little in taste. The best thing was the burnt ends and the chicken. The brisket was rough and hard to chew. Our waiter was nice and helpful with the menu but not too attentive. All in all it just wasn't special.
