    Great BBQ for NYC

I've lived in the city my entire life, and over the past few years have tried many BBQ spots. Normally, w/my girlfriend we'll split a full rack of babyback ribs, 2 sides, 2 sodas. It's a little over $20/person and we feast. Here is where you MUST be careful. One time the waitress had already brought drinks, and after 10-15 minutes had FORGOT to tell us they were out of ribs. For a BBQ joint?? Come on, it's not like they ran out of cole slaw, or Sprite. We were in a hurry, and it was too late to go anywhere else. Just stay on top of them....next time it happens I'm tipping 10% and that will be that end of it. As long as you stay on top of them to make sure ribs are in stock, it's a really great place. Enjoy!!

    This place is GREAT!

The title says it all. The food was great! We had Burnt end, which are little bit size pieces of meat candy. So good. The Baby back ribs are great and the baked beans are the best i have ever had. If you like real authentic smokey bbq, this is it

    take your chances

This place is hit-or-miss. Although I have enjoyed amazing BBQ here on a few occasions, I have also been served pulled-pork that would shame the owner to see. Last time I visited, at least 1/3 of my order was pure hogfat & skin - most was inedible, and it left me feeling disgusted all day. Good BBQ is supposed to fall apart & should not require a steak-knife, but you get a knife here just in case you need it (and you usually do). Burnt ends get rave reviews but are always sold out by dinner time. Everything is sold until it is absolutely gone - so... be sure to go VERY early or you just might overpay for a scoop of inedible fatty-chunks & skin scrapings from the bottom of the pan. They also mix-up most takeout orders. Waitstaff, however, is surprisingly pleasant.

    Not very memorable

Festive atmosphere. Very busy. I had the BBQ brisket sandwich. The server brought the wrong bread. The drinks did not seem very strong. I did not enjoy the bourbon + lemonade. I left a note on the check mentioning the wrong bread so the waitress would recognize the mistake and correct it next time, but she saw it and apologized profusely, made a big deal out of it, and suggested I should have said something. I had come back from the bathroom, my food was waiting, and I was hungry - I wasn't going to wait longer! Might go back. There are definitely more BBQ places more memorable. Would like to check out other places first.

Best BBQ I have had in NYC

I had planned to attend the big BBQ fest in the park by 23rd but my friend pulled rank (he said he would pay!) and took me to RUB - smart move. I had a pulled pork sandwich with baked beans and corn bread - ta-die-for. Yummy beans, great sauce, so-so fries and memorable corn bread. My friend had an order of burnt ends and fries - he loved them but I think they should offer coupons for angioplasty as a public service with every 3rd order... I have been chasing good BBQ for years and this is the best I have had in the City so far (but I am still looking). The room is typical NYC bar / saloon decor (can you say saloon and decor in the same sentence?) Service was slow but acceptable. Our waitress was, however, outstanding. She understood the menu very well. She could make recommendations based on having tasted everything (not all that common) and she was very cute - make that VERY cute... I will come back and plan on trying the brisket next time. Give it a shot.

    I Luv It!

This place is the really deal. They don't serve over sauced bbq here, they serve dry rubbed authentic Smokey bbq. The ribs are the best is the city by far. They are golden brown with a great smoke ring. The brisket is killer and the burnt end might be the best bit of bbq anywhere. All the sides are very good with the baked beans being my all time favorite.... A little comment to some of the other reviewers who think thy know what real bbq is...This Is It....happy hunting...

    Didn't like it

For starters, we showed up in suits during lunch, so you would think the waitress would fathom the fact that we would be in a bit of a rush. But she took her sweet time taking our order. Second, i'm wondering how a $9 order of BBQ chicken could not come with a single side. They basically gave me a 75 cent piece of unmarinated chicken that anyone can cook. The kicker - 2 pieces of wonder bread came with it!! It was appalling. The chicken was dry and tasteless, and the 2 slices of white bread were laughable. Spent $12 total on myself, and walked out still hungry.
