Hade better NYC Burgers
I am always in search of the best burger. This is nowhere close. Royale has a sign out front saying they have 'The Best Burger in NYC' and this place had been recommended to me. The burger, although adequate was nowhere near the holy grail of burgers. Although presented nicely, reasonably priced, juicy and on a great bun, the meat was near tasteless. The fries were soggy, very greasy and had a taste like old oil.

amazing burgers. great fries and onion rings. that blue cheese wedge is tasty. i've never had a better chicken finger, no joke.

Great Bar w/ Good Burgers
Royale is not the Ritz but it is a really good, relaxed bar that serves a truly great hamburger. Being able to order "the Royale with cheese" is a big plus.

Not just a great burger
Royale has amazing burgers... there is no doubting that. You have to try the crispy chicken sandwich! This is by far the best in the city and best thing on the menu. I love it here... great bartenders, great food and super affordable.

Living up to the review
The burgers are by far the best in NYC. Eating this supurb burger (I had the bac. cheese burger and has a special sauce put on it) was an out of body experience. I highly recommend! Service is great too, and the place is eat off the floor clean

Why the hype?
We went into this burger experience ready to be dazzled because of all of the strong reviews. But we felt that this burger was a disappointment. First of all, we asked for medium rare and made it clear that we wanted it on the rare side of medium rare. The burger had not a sign of pinkness, and was well done. Even if the burger had been cooked as we had requested, it was clear that the meat itself was nothing special and lacked flavor. The service was good, the garden a plus, and the beer selection sufficient for a simple pub, but we won't be returning. We can't help but wonder if they had a very off night (Memorial Day) since all other reviews are so complimentary.

Good stuff
Really good bacon cheeseburger. French fries were decent as far as the soft shoestring variety go. Ordered for takeout and took a while but was worth it. Meat cooked perfectly to medium (how we requested), butterhead lettuce instead of the generic old iceberg. Bar itself is really loud and busy but there's a cool outdoor area in the back.
