A strangely uneven meal, with very good food not making up for an arrogant attitude on the part of the hostess/manager. They should take a lesson from Danny Meyer, who knows how to make guests feel welcome.

My husband and I were thrilled to find this restaurant over the summer- it was quiet enough to carry on a civilized conversation, the music was not blaring, the prix fixe was great value, the service (where we sat at the bar) was good and they served fresh "local" food in an interesting combinations. Sadly since then, with each visit we have been increasingly disappointed- to the point that after trying both lunch and dinner there today we can unequivocally say "they've ruined all that they had". The combination of ingredients clashed or fell flat, the dishes were served lukewarm (both appetizers and main course at both lunch and dinner), the service was loud and disruptive and inattentive, it was so dark we were not alone in using our cell phones to light the menu. Sadly they have lost us and our recommendations.

Not sure where the negative reviews are coming from, but I thought the food was spectacular. Had the most flavorful and tender duck, sweetbreads rocked, the bay scallops to die for, the mushroom toasts out of this world. Love the flavor combos that are well balanced, like sweet fruits with a hint of spice. The restaurant is also a beautiful impressive space and the service is very friendly and professional. I can't wait to go back.

I was pleasantly surprised by Rouge Tomate. I was dressed fairly casually and didn't feel like I matched the club atmosphere of this chic restaurant. I was immediately put at ease by the uber friendly staff. Although the decor is very sexy, this is a great place for conversation. My date explained to me that the restaurant hired a dietician to ensure that all of the meals are very healthy. Everything we had was delicious and very light. I recommend the ceviche which was a wonderful mix of flavors. Our waitstaff was friendly and attentive.

My husband and I had the pleasure of having an AMAZING dinner at this beautiful restaurant. The service was great, the menu is lovely and all the dishes we tasted (we ordered many of them!) were fabulous! I highly recommend to anyone that loves food. It is clean and special. You are going to Love it!

As others below have written, this is a great space and the service is very good but the food is only ok. At this price point there are countless other better restaurants in NYC.

went here with a group of 6 on a friday night, the place was crowded and we were seated promptly. although it took our waitress a little while to take our order when the first little small plates of toasts arrived we were pleased, they were tasty. but that was when the fun ended. they suggest ordering as if it were a tasting menu so we did, our first course never arrived, once it did the food was pretty bland and not exciting. the same was true for the rest of the meal. the dinner took 3hrs which is way too long for a regular restaurant. i do not recommend this place at all. the service is ridiculously slow and the food is unappetizing, the most disappointing meal i've had in the 3 yrs of living here.
