    Great Dining Experience

I have been going here for several years now and the food, service and atmosphere have always been great. The place was jammed but there defintely was no neglect to customers. There has to be a reason that this place is around for years because in New York, restaurants seem to come and go! Highly reccomend!

    Terrible ripoff

My two daughters and I ate there on the 19th of September after a show for my daughter's birthday dinner. We were left forgotten at our table for 20 minutes and we had to ask someone for service. We ordered 3 shrimp cocktails and dinners. The dinners arrived with no cocktails. We ordered the 3 cocktails anyway...only one arrived after a while. It was not properly deveined. The steak in one order arrived dry and unpleasing. The lobster pasta was tasteless and did not even contain a hint of lobster. The other shrimp dish contained poorly deveined shrimp. This was an expensive and disappointing event!

    ugh

I was at this restaurant Saturday for an early dinner after seeing a play. It wasn't too crowded and the ambience seemed nice. My friend and I ordered the Prixe fix dinner and each of us had the 10oz steak. It was awful, dried out, touch and tasteless. The salad it came with was mediocre at best. The berries in fresh cream was fine. My husband had the shephard's pie and it had an odd taste. The one thing we all agree that was okay was the calamari-all in all this will go down as one of the worst restaurant meals I have ever had. UGH

    Don't believe the bad reviews!

I enjoyed a pre-theater dinner at Rosie O'Gradys on the evening of January 9, 2010. I was staying at the Marriott Marquis and asked for restaurant advice and was steered to Rosie O'Gradys. I went back to my room to read reviews about the restaurant and the mixed reviews made me wonder if the hotel staff at the Marquis knew what they were talking about... However, time was limited and I took the chance of going to this establishment. From the minute I stepped in the front door, I was treated in a warm, friendly manner. The reception host took us to our table immediately (we DID have reservations) and our waitress came over to take drink orders within a minute or two of us being seated. Enough time to not feel rushed but not enough time to wonder if we were forgotten. I began with a crab cake appetizer and my dining companion ordered the French Onion Soup Au Gratin. Both were excellent. Well prepared, not over salted and served hot. For my main course I had the 16 Oz. Prime Boneless Rib Steak, ordered medium and served medium. It was not charred nor overcooked as other have complained below about steaks they have ordered. My dining companion ordered the Grilled Pork Chops and was equally pleased with the the dish. We also ordered a side of onion rings which were very tasty and a bit addicting. And it was all washed down with two rounds of beer per person. This restaurant was charming, the food is very good, and, yes, it's a bit pricey. Welcome to New York. I suppose if I wasn't a visitor to NYC so often, I too, would be put off about the prices, but, the reality is that the pricing is right on the money for the area. You are paying for the convenience of being in the theater district.

    We loved it

Around the middle of October, my niece and I, both from the South, were in town to begin a week-end of sightseeing. We left our hotel and went to the Times Square area on a cold and windy Thursday night. We came upon Rosie O'Grady's and had a delicious late dinner of salad, Irish Stew and cheesecake. The atmosphere and wait staff were excellent and the prices were reasonable. We delighted in observing New York ambiance in Rosie's, and will definitely go back when we're in town again.

    very mediocre

I went to Rosie O'grady's after a Saturday matinee Broadway musical. It was convenient walking distance for my brother who is not too nimble. The restaurant has a polished, distinguished decor of wood paneling and white cloth linens. We sat in the lounge area and had a good view of a football game. Our waiter took awhile to get to us in the nearly deserted restaurant (it was still early) but once he came to our table he was excellent from then on. We had the seafood soup which had no visible seafood in it and was a bit watery. We also had Caesar salad and the Caesar dressing was tasteless. I like mine a little peppery and lemony. It's been a long time since I had a Caesar salad in a restaurant and they did not offer to add some freshly ground pepper. We both had filet mignon, and steamed veggies and I had roasted potatoes that were burnt while my brother had mashed potatoes that were very creamy, and he appeared to enjoy. I ordered the steak medium for both of us and my brother's was perfect and mine was smaller and overcooked. The meat was obviously high quality and still tasty. The coffee was good. I thought the price was fair, but I was disappointed with the experience. With tip, I paid $130.00, and we didn't even order a bottle of wine. (I had two Smithwick's which were fresh and cold). I would not recommend this place to someone.

    Never Again

First, the steak oredered medium was charred on the outside and very well done inside, the vegetable salad entree was covered in extremely (and unedibly) powerful vinegar sauce. Along with the steak came some boiled, absolutely tasteless vegies. Second, the waitress, noticing each course returning mostly uneaten, was completely uncaring, did not even ask why, and the bill presented even though the meal went 3/4 uneaten. All in all - never again.
