    What Happened

I have been coming here every other year for 10 years. My favorite dish was filete con hongos (filet mignon with mushrooms). I used to get a thick round cut of filet mignon. This time I got what looked like a pounded thin cut of veal. That was no filet mignon for $30.00 & my whole table agreed. The d├ęcor is aging also. I hate to say it but I felt like I was at a chain restaurant. I gave the service a (1) because at least I was served food and didn't have to go hunt and cook it myself but that's it. Plates were served to the table with the quickness of a diner. I was scared the inertia of the service would have the food sliding off the plate because it had no brakes. Real sad, they used to be great.

    Very good!

The Mexican food here is delicate and sophisticated. It's a bit expensive, but worth it! It's not a place for tacos or burritos. Everything we had was delicious! My friend had the short ribs and said she'd recommend them. I had the chicken enchilada. I asked for it with red sauce which was the best I've ever had! One of us had the enchilada with mole and said it was great. Guacamole was the best I've had. Pomegrante margarita is also good! Even the decaf coffee was good. Service was little slow, but I would definitely go back. Sophisticated Mexican.

Best Mexican I have ever eaten and I am from Texas

The food was outstanding, we kept talking about it the next day. Service was excellent and very accomadating with our children. Overall was one of the best meals I have had in a long time!

    Totally disappointed

The food was unimpressive and expensive. My whole group was disappointed. We all agreed never to return. P.S. - The bartender was outside, came inside, took our orders, and never washed his hands before, he grabbed the rosemary with his hands to muddle it or whatever. People who handle food have a responsiblity to the customer.

    Disappointing

After years living around the corner from Rosa Mexicano, we finally gave it a shot. We will not return. I sensed disaster when the entrees arrived at our table 5 to 7 minutes after we ordered them (and the restaurant was packed). Sure enough, they tasted as though they had been sitting in a warming tray all night before being hastily thrown on a plate with sauce. The shrimp in the shrimp crepes were transparent and had a rubbery texture. I suppose they were undercooked? My husband had the enchiladas mole. The mole sauce was alright, certainly not as rich and chocolatey as I've had in other establishments. The chicken inside the enchiladas had no flavor whatsoever. The rice that accompanied the entrees had been sitting out so long that it was dry and crunchy. Overall, I was shocked at the lack of freshness. Anyone who thinks this is good Mexican food needs to branch out to some of the lesser-known outposts in the East Village and Lower East Side. As other reviewers have mentioned, the drinks are small, packed with ice, and overpriced. Overall, this meal was a tremendous disappointment.
