No disrespect to other posters but if you are willing to pay high end for average we all suffer.

    Good food, a little loud

Great food and definitely worth checking out. The main problem with the atmosphere though is that it's just too loud when it's busy. The tile everywhere bounces the sound around so much you can't hear anything. But go for the good food & earlier it's quieter!

    easy on the salt

I was pretty excited to go to Roman's, I only heard good things. We went on a rainy sunday and got seated right away. The 4 of us split a few different dishes. In general the food was way over salted and robbed the dishes of flavor. The fried buffalo mozzarella appetizer kind of tasted like a hot pocket. The rabbit risotto was pretty darn tasty, except for all the salt. We got some bruschetta, that was basically garlic bread with none of the usual toppings. The crowd was a little stuffy, but the interior was nice, and the waitstaff friendly and helpful. Its a bit pricey, but you get a good amount of food. Probably won't go again, unless some one pays for my meal.

    The best in the area?

I highly recommend Roman's to anyone looking for a special meal. There are a lot of "locally sourced", trendy restaurants around town, but this place is legit. I've told people outside of the neighborhood that it's worth coming to Ft Greene just to try this place. I've been there twice so far with small groups. Each time we basically ordered the entire menu, which changes constantly, and everything is just sublime. The plates are very small so you can't really over-order. The only caveat is that it is pricey for the neighborhood, but definitely worth it if you want to indulge in some really good food.
