    Nice easter lunch

I went there for easter brunch. It was pretty good. The view was nice. The waiter was very nice. The brunch comes with a basket of morning muffins and breads. They were really good. I think $35 for a 3 course brunch was ok. i was satisfied with the meal and service. At the end we also got some homemade marshmallows. It was good. Would recommend for families to go there for easter or any other holiday mornings.

    Great Food From Hack

I spent over $70 before tip for two at lunch, and one of us didn't even order the full entree, and none of us ordered alcohol. This should give you a good idea of how superlatively expensive this place is. The crab cake is as good as advertised. The Turkey Mignon is superb as well. The mash potato is just like Friendly's, but priced at $5 a pop. The view is interesting. If you run out of conversation subject, just laugh at those poor souls falling down on ice. (I know it's bad EQ....) The waiters shown absolute impatience, and gave you that look when you didn't order EVERYTHING. I mean, you are supposed to order pre-meal champagne, appetizer, red/white wine, full entree, side dishes, tea/coffee followed by dessert, etc. When we decided not to order wine once we sat down, I got that look right away. And then when my friend - who's on diet - decided to order soup and appetizer as a light lunch - that look from the waiter cannot be more grueling. We were being ignored all the way till somebody needs our window-side table. But that kind of treatment did not top the reception people. They are the worst. Reminds me of soup nazi. They just couldn't care less. Not even a smile. It's like we were cattles who are being shuffled in and out of a vet office. Am I suppose to give her a $20 bill to show our appreciation that she didn't make us wait 30 minutes for an reservation that we had make? In summary, another good food restaurant ruined by rude service in the city, a place where quality of food is polar opposite of the quality of service. I will not go back there.

    Best Crabcakes I've ever had!

Some friends and I were in NYC over Labor Day weekend(the same time as Tropical Storm Ernesto). We had looked foward to eating outside but had to settle for a view from inside instead-and it was still a great view despite the rain. The crabcakes were the best I've ever had -mostly crab and abosolutely delicious! I plan to make this a stop every time I'm in NYC just to have them! We also enjoyed our waiter- he was very attentive and helpful!

    Pretty darn good!!

Food was good, My server was very kind and made my family feel very comfotable in the big apple. It was there 1st time in NYC and he gave them theatre information and took a picture for us. food was well done. you can tell the menu had been well thought out. Tha location is wonderful as we sat along the ice rink which is now an outdoor cafe. The only really bad thing was there was a feeling of stress or anger in the air by the over all staff. few were smiling either at the door or in the resaraunt. Overall i would return for the food and the service.

    Good food; annoying policies

Perhaps most importantly, the food is good and it is a nice space. But I have a couple major issues with this restaurant. First, I called to make a lunch reservation for a prime mid-afternoon time slot and was told that they had no availabilities -- only for a very early or very late lunch. So we opted for very early, and we were there well past the prime mid-afternoon lunch slot. And while the outdoor seating was mostly full, it was 90% empty inside. Second, the restaurant automatically adds 18% gratuity on your bill, regardless of how big your party is (even if only 2 people). The menu does not indicate this. It is something you should know before you carelessly add more gratuity on top of it. (I did that once, and the waitress did not bother to point out my mistake; I only caught myself on the way out the door, realizing the cost was way too high; so I went back in and adjusted it -- and they gave me attitude). I'll also add that the hostess gave me attitude when they did not properly have my reservation entered into their computer.

    Merry Christmas 2004!

We had Christmas dinner here (25th) and had a wonderful experience. We had never been since making long lines to enter has never appealed to us. That night was reservations only and we were seated at a nice table right on the rink. The menu was fix and priced well. Crab cake appetizer (a bit too salty but good) then a wonderful prime rib with horseradish sauce and a stuffed baked potato. Dessert was key lime pie. Staff was very nice considering it was Christmas and they were working. Watching people slipping on the ice while enjoying our cocktails was quite entertaining.

    The scoop......

The best time/worst time to visit this NYC classic is during the holidays. The lines are long and so are the waits. Service will sometimes suffer in a place that probably serves 2000 meals a day during the holidays! The staff cares about providing proper service but remember, if you're tired and grumpy when you arrive, chances are that you'll treat everyone accordingly. This restaurant offers uninventive but overly adequate cuisine, and it is done quite well considering. The crab cakes are to die for as are the steaks. Too pricey? No way, the portions are huge and the scene is worth the price of admission alone.
