    Egregiously over-rated and over-priced

My grandson was visiting New York from Las Vagas and I wanted to take him where he could be exposed to some of the highlights of New York. I arrived fifteen minutes after opening on the Sunday before Thanksgiving. The place was 'jammed' and, of course, we couldn't be seated anywhere near the 'view'. In fact, until he stood up on his chair, my grandson couldn't even see the skaters. when he tasted his pasta with meat sauce he said that it could use a little salt. Pretty astute for a four old! His nanny had turkey medallions and I ordered what the server recommended, the crab cakes. They were hard as rocks; also tasteless as were the nanny's medallions. My grandson had ice cream, I ordered some sort of apple pastry which was stiffer than a shirt cardboard, It just couldn't be cut or eaten. The nanny and I each had coffee. The bill was $104.00 for a very poor quality lunch.

    place got worse

First time I went to Rock Center Cafe 2 years ago. I wanted one of frineds to try filet mignon. We both had filet mignon and we loved it. Few days agoI decided that I wanted their filet mignon again. So me and my friend went there on Monday. This time filet mignon was nothing but a sole. We had to chew every piece for at least 2 minutes (taking into account that this kind of meat should be Extra Tender). Besides, knifes were absolutely dull. More than that, the service was not good! We wanted to change the knifes, but our waitress kept ignoring us. She was serving just 2 tables at a time when we were there, but she just took our order and after 40-50 minutes brought our check. She never asked us if we needed anything or if everything was OK. She was standing not far away from us chatting with other waitress. I guess she didn't need any tips. Well, her dream came true. I was working in restaurants before. And I do realize how hard this job is.... but having 2 tables and not being able to come even once to a table. This is something new :) Oh well. Now I know I will never come back to Rock Center Cafe.

    wonderful

My hubby surprised me with a DREAM trip to NYC, it was the week before Thanksgiving so the ice rink was packed. We got a seat near the windows to watch the skaters during dinner. Candlelight was soo romantic, and the leather chairs were sinkable! This was our one big meal splurge. We ordered crabcakes as appetizer...mmmm! I got the Chicken Marsala and definitely recommend it. Our bill came to nearly $80 with tip. The atmosphere was worth it. Our waitress was fine, although understandably busy, but we didn't feel rushed at all. There was no wait to get a table at 6:30 pm. All in all a terrific memory, and YES we would go back.

Very good, but a bit expensive.

First time here, the location is wonderful, the food very good, service perfunctory at best, Portions on the larger side, but the prices on the "large" side as well. The french toast with berries is 16.00, eggs at 14.00, pancakes at 16.00, without drinks or coffee. The prix fixed brunch, 3 courses, is $29.00.

    location

location...location..location. thats all this place has going for it. been here a couple of times and i must be a fish out of water, living all the city all i spotted were tourists. i only come here with business associates from out of town. the food is ok, atmosphere is great tourists love it, but can't picture a city resident venturing here, unless its a warrm day and wants to sit at the ouside bar in the spring time for a drink...other than that with so many other options, why bother coming here. its top-heavy on prices.

    Good Food, Nice View

We were at Rockefeller Center and decided to go in for an early lunch, We didn't have reservations but got a table near the window and watched the skaters, the food was very good and the waitress was very nice and friendly. The salads were large and the entree was ample and the desserts were also large portions. It was a pleasant experience and we would go there again.

    Nice easter lunch

I went there for easter brunch. It was pretty good. The view was nice. The waiter was very nice. The brunch comes with a basket of morning muffins and breads. They were really good. I think $35 for a 3 course brunch was ok. i was satisfied with the meal and service. At the end we also got some homemade marshmallows. It was good. Would recommend for families to go there for easter or any other holiday mornings.
