    Nice Surprise!

Stopped here randomly for my birthday lunch and was delighted. We sat outside on a beautiful afternoon. The service was very attentive and accomodating. My boyfriend asked for the tomato soup which was not on the lunch menu and we expected to hear the usual "no sir we cannot do that" and we were happy to hear him say yes of course we can do that for you. The soup was delicious and the fried zucchini and calamari was a treat. Also, the bread seved before the meal was so good.

    nice lunch spot

Just had lunch here with a co-worker and we were both impressed. Although the service was less than stellar, the food was excellent. The chopped salad was perfect, I LOVED the squid ink pasta w/proscuitto and shrimp, and my date really enjoyed the veal. And the price wasn't bad at all.

    Was it the...Wine? Food? Service?

Whatever it was--and I think it wasa fantastic combination of everything--this place MADE our 7 year anniversary something truly special. We're no nonsense diners--two people in their late 20s who usually try not to spend more than $20 for both of us during a meal. At $175 (after tip) ROC was an hour and a half of dining that neither of us will forget. The Bufala Mozzarella was astonishing; the Beef Carpaccio salad surprisingly beautiful and tasty. The Parpadelle was a pasta to beat all other attempts at the perfect al dente, and the filet mignon could not have been better (hint: do not choose how it should be cooked, leave that to the chef!) The wine list is daunting--both in selection and price--but we found a $30 Chilean Cabernet (Keyword: Coulouse) that my girlfriend called "magical" in its spiciness and deep, dark foresty, tingling sensations. The cast of roughly 5 or 6 colluding waiters were all extremely thoughtful and helpful (YES, ask your waiter what he recommends here) and the owner, Rocco--or Roc, of course--was a terrific guy who won't snub his nose at pouring your wine and chatting for a few moments before rushing off to make sure everything else is up to speed. DO NOT SKIP DESSERT, have two. The Tiramisu and Ciocoletto desserts were so subtle, so uncloying, that a non-dessert eater like me out-ate my overly dessert-loving girlfriend. The music could have been as subtle as the dessert to make this place truly toppset notch.

    Great dining & delivery!

We have eaten at Roc several times over the past few years and have always been happy with the food and super friendly service. We're all vegetarian and are always able to find good choices on the menu too. I HIGHLY recommend Roc in a neighborhood full of choices!

    Poor food, but good atmosphere

Went to Roc with my entire family the day after Valentine's Day to celebrate my mother's birthday. Service was attentive, but not overbearing. Wine and drinks were good. One thing though, had to keep asking waiter for more water. For appetizers we had scallops, calamari, beef carpaccio, and bufala mozzarella which were all good. One note about the calamari, there was more fried zucchini on there than actual calamari. The main courses were subpar. I had the daily risotto special with sausage which did not do it for me. Another in my party had veal and could not eat it because the meat tasted unpleasant. Other pasta dishes were enjoyed at our table, but nothing special. Fish was ok. We didnt have any desserts since our stomaches hurt from the meal. Don't waste your time at Roc.
