Great food!
Best meal we had on our stay in New York. Service was excellent! Price compared equally same as other resturants we visited. I would recommend this resturant to anyone and everyone.

Best of the Best
I don't understand the bad reviews I see here. I've eaten here several times over the past 3 years and have never had a bad experience. Their steaks are fabulous, salads divine, wait staff exemplary. As a matter of fact, I was just there on Saturday (5/14/11). Went B4 a show for lunch, then after for dinner, excellent. The car had overheated on the way there that morning, so after dinner I asked the waitress for some water in a container I could carry back to the car and I explained why. She came back to the table with an empty laundry soap container that she had filled with water, perfect! Very accommodating. (Got the car home, no problem.) I love this place, and plan on going back again and again.

Pass This Place Up!
Empty on a Saturday night, first red flag. Bread was stale, microwaved inedible. Second red flag. We were starving so we held out hope the meal would be ok. NOT! Shrimp and scallops were overcooked and tasteless. The chicken supreme was disappointing. Chicken was hard, chewy and again tasteless. Mashed potatoes were the only edible portion of the meal. Way overpriced for a meal of mashed potatoes.

Worst $10 steak I paid $35 for!
My husband and I went to Robert Emmett's before seeing Hamlet due to its proximity to the theater. I ordered the 18oz porterhouse for $35 which was supposed to come with a starch and vegetable of my choice. He took my steak order and asked how I'd like it cooked and I said rare and then he asked my husband what he wanted. He left and I remembered that I should have chosen sides. The steak came and immediately I could tell that it was at least medium well done and I could see more gristle and fat than meat. In addition it was only 1/2 inch thick, which is rather hard to do and still be 18oz, it was more like 10oz. We were planning on splitting the steak and his pasta dish since neither of us wanted that much steak. The steak had a bit of pink near the bone and that was all. My husbands pasta was in a bath of butter and extremely salty. In addition the waiter tried to charge us for 14 Guinness' when my husband had 2.

Nice views
Had a nice dinner before seeing Phantom and returned for dessert after the show. Food, atmosphere, and service were all great. Will return againwhen I get the chance.

Avoid
Went there before a play, it was very convenient. We arrived a little after 6 pm and were seated right away, upstairs by the window. Some of the items on the menue did not have prices like the soup special of the day so I thought it was part of the entrees below. Also, the dessert menu did not have prices and the drink menu had prices for some items. I ordered one of the daily specials, seafood in fra diavlo sause. The scallops were very disappointing, chewy, stringy and tasteless. The calamari on the other hand was delicious as was the fra diavlo sauce. I also ordered a chocolate martini which was very overpriced and poorly made. The service was questionable, when we asked the server the prices, he actually seemed annoyed. There are so many other restaurants in the area that are so much better that I would not go back there.

Tourist Trap
It's proximity to the Theater district is the only reason this restaurant is still open. The atmosphere and service were good, however the food quality was extremely poor for the price. I ordered one of their signature steaks and received a cut of meat with more gristle and fat than you would get from a chain steakhouse. The other dish ordered was the crabcakes. If you enjoy dough filler with old bay seasoning, you'll love the crabcakes. If you expect any real meat, you'll be sorely disappointed. I don't make it into New York City to see plays very often, but the next time I do, I will be sure to steer clear of Robert Emmetts.
