Ristorante San Pietro

Appalled by the rudeness and ignorance of tthe owner. Booked a table for 4 for Sat. June 27 to celebrate our 12th wedding anniversary. We visit NY regularly from Bermuda and it was our 3rd visit to San Pietro. My Bermudian husband wore his traditional formal attire, dressy Bermuda shorts, navy blazer, bowtie, very British, very stylish. The hostess looked at my husband and you could see that she had no idea about Bermuda attire. She called the Maitre D who told us that "they only had a table outside...", we said we want a table inside then they told us that there was no shorts aloud inside the restaurant. As my husband had met the owner the last time, he requested to speak to the owner. Mr. Bruno came to the door and said in a very abrupt and uncouth manner that "shorts are not allowed inside and that's it", and walked away. We could not believe it! My husband was maybe the best dressed that night! We waited for our friends and went to spend $1,000 in another italian restaurant that always welcome us and our Bermuda and US friends that we entertain.

. . . took a couple of friends and the place was packed on a Thursday night - always amazed at the big spenders in the city. Wine was good, although somewhat difficult to get. The ravioli were few but very good, the veal chop I had was also good and one of my guest had the veal special which he said was exceptional . . . the Caprese salad with Buffalo Mozzarella was excellent. The service was great .. Try to get the Portuguese waiter. Makes the evening so much better with really great service . . . but each time the price tag comes, decide I will wait a year to go back.

A great restaurant-food is exceptional, service excellent, but I have NEVER spent so much money for dinner for two! We did not even order a bottle of wine and our bill was close to $450!

I have to admit the food had a great taste. Just watch your wallet cause you will feel like someone is stealing from you. 5 ravolis in sauce with eggplant and peas $46. I guess they charge you for the word special. Nothing special about that price. Hope you like water cause you pay a pretty penny for it when they pour it for you without really asking. Again food was great but can do the same in Little Italy for half.

Great food, ... and service and Atmosphere... never really busy when I have been there.... but you've got to come prepared to pay. If you can afford it ... the place to go for Italian.... I am looking for another job before I go back but would like to... been there twice and my pocket book still hurts... but the rest of me had a great time.

Had dinner there numorous times and it's always great! Classic Italian! It can be a little pricey, but the food is worth it. Definately have a pasta dish, they are all fabulous!!
