    Memorable Experience

The first time I dined at Porcao was Valentine's Day of this year after many executives pressed my boyfriend to take me due to outstanding food. My boyfriend and I fell in love with the food and the service. Both of us well-rounded in NYC dining as carnivores we were thoroughly impressed with the buffet, side dishes and of course . . . the mouth-watering selection of meats that are carved tableside at the flip of a simple card. The price is high, but it is justified. Anyone experienced in NYC dining can appreciate the food, service and experience. The ambiance is relaxing and softly lit for a romantic or intimate mood. It remains our favorite dining spot and we visit often. You MUST save room for the garlic steak (chunks of garlic and a delicate hint of cheese make this a favorite). My boyfriend's favorite is the prime-rib, cooked rare,as is mine. Feel free to make special requests for specific meats to keep coming around . . . the manager and wait-staff go above and beyond to accomodate you and ensure your evening is perfect!

    Amazing experience

We found Porcao in a Google search and were so pleased with what we found. Our dining experience was tasty and unique. The atmosphere of the restaurant is great for a classy night out with friends or a romantic date. The servers were very attentive and helpful. There is no rush to turn the table over- we were there for 2.5 hours! The food was amazing and was exactly what we were looking for. It is a bit pricy but you get what you pay for. I would definitely recommend the restaurant, as long as you are prepared to pay a bit.

Depends what you are looking for

Porcao left me with mixed feelings- The food was nothing special however the service was impeccable. The ambience however was rather confusing - a crossover between a hip latin south beach influence yet had a posh linen table dining feel to it? This was all wrapped up into a big rectantular hall which could have been a large clothing store of some sort. Salad bar was a great dissapointment- they didnt even try on this part. Most of the items on the bar were items you wouldnt touch- its almost as if they strategically chose such items so it can sit there all day and night and still look fresh. Maybe this isnt too bad of an idea since the main purpose of eating here was the meat. The meat kept coming!- very consistently and genrerously. Unlike other rodizios they did not send over the cheap cuts of meat first to fill you up. However I must admit that the taste was quite uninspiring. The meats were very souless- tender but left us wanting more at a $50 per head price tag. We must have tried a dozen of varieties but nothing stood out. The service was great though- each one, manager, hostess, waiter, meat carver, bus boy (even the coat check) were extremely nice and attentive. The manager must have come to our table 3 times to ask if we needed anything such as fresh plates. Each time I walked away from the table- which I did quite a lot, my table would have a fresh tablecloth ready for me. The environment was quite comfortable throughout the dinner however this place is definetly more suitable for a power lunch for businesses rather a night in the city dinner type. The drinks were extremely potent thought, thats always a plus. Dessert was nothing special at all though- and did not justify the hefty price tag they commanded. I can only describe them as cafeteria style pre-made and mass produced. The bill can tally up very quickly as our bill for a party of 6 was over 500 dollars after tax and tip. To sum it all up- for ambience and service its worth a try. For meetings and business, this place would be great.. but if you are a foodie I would not recommend Porcao since it the cost would never justify this price tag.

    The service was good...

...but that was all. This place is proof that a buffet style restaurant, no matter how fancy, is not the best place to have food. The food in the salad bar was very dry (especially the sushi rolls and turkey pasta salad) and the meat was extremely salty. The meat was rare just the way I like it, but even though it was rare it was not tender at all.

    Awesome

I don't think I've ever done one of these but I'm commenting b/c I strongly believe the last bad review was either the competition, or a person who is not accustomed to pricey restaurants. #1 I'm a vegetarian and the fact that they offer an option - and a discounted one - that tasted amazing by the way - is a big plus. I loved the place. #2 My omnivorous husband also loved the place, $51 pp for all you can eat at an upscale place with great service is not bad. Pricey yes, but you are definitely getting what you pay for if you like to eat. #3 Desserts are absolutely amazing! Everything on that cart looks like a picture out of a gourmet mag - and the taste is amazing and so are the drinks. They are not included but it's not like that is a secret. IMO if you go to a place like this - be willing to pay and enjoy yourself.

    Not worth the money

Flat out disappointed by Porcao. The salad bar was just poor, everything tasted slightly frozen and lacking in flavor. The meat selection was interesting and a few of the meats were very tasty (lamb chops, sirloin). But most of the meat was overdone, no flavor, boooring. The price wouldn't have been bad ($50/person, $35/veg option) if they'd delivered on the food...but getting at bill for close to $200 at the end of a subpar meal was really painful. (N.b. we sampled three desserts...none special, all tasted like something you pull out of a cafeteria cold bar--and NOT included in the price). Definitely wouldn't return.

    Awesome Food

This is one of my favorite restaurants in the city. Great selection of high quality meats including sirloin, filet mignon, skirt steak, etc...are sliced onto your plate tableside. Restaurant also has a great salad bar and serves yummy sides (fried yuca, creamed spinach, etc). Although pricey at about $50 per person, the meats are extremely high quality and rival the great steakhouses of nyc. The brazilians got it right with the "rodizio" style restaurants, why spend a ton of money on a huge steak, when for the same price you can sample as many different cuts and flavors as you'd like.
