Cozy, yummy - a place to make your regular stop
Wow - what a great place. When I walked in, everything was spotless and despite the size, the restaurant felt very cozy. The first person I met was Rio herself who is an absolute love. This was our first time at the restaurant and we are thinking about making it our usual place. The food (both sushi and Japanese dishes) was absolutely delicious. We got a couple of apps and the pre-theater combos. Go go go!

Huge authentic Japanese menu!
I am from Japan, and I have never been to another restaurant in NYC that reminds me of home as this one.The menu is huge and contains all authentic recipes. I'm also a total foodie snob, and this passed my test! great presentation, incredible taste. The lunch special is mind boggling. It's open all day, so it is so convenient if you are seeing a show on Broadway. Order a la carte ! Your experience is wasted if you just order the usual teriyaki platter or a california roll.

A gem!
Excellent food with a menu that includes a deeper reach into Japanese food than many restaurants in NY. Highly recommended are dishes such as Yamaimo (delicious Japanese mountain yam completely unlikely our yams), Yakisaba (grilled mackerel), as well as the delicious sauteed warm and cold noodles and various rice stews, without forgetting the velvety chawanmushi. The food was fresh down to the shiso leaf (ooba) used under the yamaimo. I would recommend skipping their uninspiring basic salad. Overlook the somehow dated decor oddly coupled with highly contemporary music and enjoy the warm welcome of the dedicated couple who own this place.

Great food and excellent service
We live in the neighborhood and go to Rio and You regularly. The food is nearly always good and the service is impeccable. We have tried most of the Japanese restaurants in this area, and Rio and You is probably our favorite for its food, service and price.

subpar sushi
I didn't even finish my meal before writing this review. Maybe we caught them on an off-day, but we ordered some sushi rolls for lunch, and not only did it take over an hour to arrive to the office (5 blocks away), but all 3 miso soups were filled only halfway and had spilled in the bag they came in the fish was definitely not fresh- it looked old and tasted fishy. I can't imagine how they let these dishes go out the door and expect satisfied customers. Also, they only gave one measly soy sauce packet per person. The salad, aside from a few wilted leaves, was perhaps the only acceptable dish- which isn't a good sign for what looks like a "nice sushi restaurant".
