    pleasant surprise on Orchard St

I was limited in my choices as it was very late when I got a craving for curry. And so, since they did deliver after twelve, I called Rhon Tiam on Orchard St and was informed that the kitchen was technically closed BUT if I wasn't too fussy, perhaps they could accommodate me. Well, I wanted shrimp curry and lucky for me, they had no problem with that. And so I ordered shrimp curry with creamy tomato sauce and spices, puri, mango lassi and lentil soup. EVERYTHING was fresh and succulent. If I had to make a tiny suggestion, I would say their puri is a tad greasy but still scrumptious. Oh, and did I mention the servings were generous? I couldn't believe how much shrimp was in the curry. I will be calling them again.

best thai food in lower manhattan

ok I never write reviews but I am now because I miss the thai food at Rhong Tiam. I am a picky eater and I love a good Massaman curry. I am always so disappointed at thai restaurants in Manhattan because the food is never that great. When I came by Rhong Tiam and tried their Massaman curry I hit the jackpot. I was soooooo happy I finally found a good Massaman in lower Manhattan close to home. Now I hear they are changing the menu... I really hope they do not because the original menu is absolutely amazing. please stay great and dont regress like many restaurants.

    Great addition to the LES!

Most NYC Thai restaurants are pretty much the same, but this place is different and better than the rest. The food has more flavor, the ingredients are fresher, and there are a lot of healthy options too. Plenty of interesting options on the menu that you won't find anywhere else, like Thai tacos. I haven't tried a dish I didn't like so far. Highly recommended, especially if like you like your Thai food spicy.
