    Fantastic!

Yesterday was my second visit to Respite. I had a great experience the first time and couldn't wait to go back. I couldn't believe that this visit was even better than the first! The chef is a culinary genius! Every dish that I tried was well thought-out and his presentation is impeccable. The flavors that he brings together make your taste buds dance! I especially loved the Lamb Sausage Ragout, Oxtail & Bone Marrow (which melts in your mouth!) and Crispy Brussel Sprouts. Our waitress was a delight as well.. answering all our questions thoughtfully and checking up on us frequently. Such a memorable evening! I am tempted to go back for Restaurant Week next week! Just can't get enough! Wish I had a Respite in my neighborhood.. but well worth the cab-ride to Midtown East! Deeeelicious and wonderful service!

    Unbelievable find

The food is really good here, I mean REALLY good. Nice service, friendly staff. It just gets a little loud sometime. I would go back in a heartbeat. This is probably the best restaurnat in Midtown East.

    Superb! A+

I hosted a private philanthropy event at Respite last evening. It is definitely the best restaurant in Midtown East. Every dish was delicious and unique. The venue is charming and the management and staff were so helpful and accommodating. Everyone from the chef to the bartenders to the waiters are skilled professionals. I've been to Respite on multiple occasions and they are consistent with their quality. A place that doesn't cease to impress!

    The best brussel sprouts ever!

This place is such a great find! A complete neighborhood gem! Great food, fabulous drinks and the greatest service ever....they treat you like royalty. We have fallen in love with this place and the people there!

    Not recommended

Not really sure how this place is getting such good reviews. We waited for our orders for close to an hour (we haven't ordered anything that should have taken that long, salads, burgers, chicken satay...) When we inquired about the wait time, we got no apology, but instead the manager started making excuses how this is because we picked meals that take a long time to prepare. The servings were super small, be prepared to order two full meals if you don't plan on leaving hungry. We ended up ordering almost twice as much food as we originally had ordered after seeing how small the servings were. The only plus of this place was that the manager decided to give us a couple of appetizers for free. While this was a nice thing to do, I am positive this was my last visit at Respite.

    Wowwed

Ate there last night and have to say that everything I read about the food is true. Delicious, interesting mix of flavors, inventive, but most importantly, not overpowering. These chefs are artists. We had about 7 dishes and each was excellent. Desserts were merely ok though. Decor works really well too, with a mirrored back wall, so those facing 'in' can still what's going on in the room. Complaint: dining room was really noisy with only 20 ppl dining - get some soundproofging material like a carpet or ceiling tiles and you'll have an absolute gem.

What a neighborhood place should be!!

This place is a throwback to what a neighborhood place should be - great food, friendly service and casual ambiance. They also won our vote for really accommodating the customer. We had a teenager in the party who asked for root beer so they went out and got some since it was not on their menu!!
