This place is very similar to UK's Wagamama. The food is Asian-inspired and priced very well. Both establishments also have communal seating. I'm a huge fan of the Pad Thai, Steamed Dumplings and the Curry Duck. The portions are more than acceptable and I often have to bring some home. The place is usually crowded and has outside seating in the summer. You won't have to wait more than 20 minutes on a Fri/Sat night. Delivery is very quick. Tonight's delivery came in 12 minutes and I live in Chelsea! I highly recommend Republic. The food is awesome!

Sometimes a wait to sit down... the food is great! Mix a lil swanky atmosphere in & it's fun for groups although can get loud in there! Community sitting leaves a bit to be desired... especially when it's so packed they practically sit a stranger in your lap. Last time we went, fellas who were placed next to us were so close we couldn't lift our arms comfortably to eat. Then when they left they were waving at us to look like studs leaving their girlfriends. How rude.

Republic's Pad Thai rocks! It's cheap, and super fast. I've tried other things on the menu, but the Pad Thai is by far their best plate!

Great noodles at a great price. I had Chicken Pad Thai, my girlfriend had coconut chicken broth, and both were excellent. The fried wonton appetizers are worth devouring and we enjoyed both the sorbet and green tea ice cream.

This was one of the best times I had in New York. The food was great, the staff was fun and the atmosphere was unlike some of the other places I had visited. I enjoyed the communal seating in the back, it was fun to talk with people I didn't know. My friend and I went twice while we were in the city. We liked it THAT much! I would recommend that anyone that is visiting or living in the city definitely check it out if you haven't already!

It's true... the atmosphere leaves a lot to be desired. You can hardly hear the people in your party, BUT the photos on the walls are very creative/interesting, and the communal-style bench seating sparks conversation between the more outgoing sort of people. The food is incredible... I have never taken anyone here who did not like what they ordered. The service is efficient and friendly. The vegetarian selection is minimal, but what there is is done well. Definitely give it a try as long as deep meaningful conversation isn't a must on your evening agenda.

I go to Republic often. I like to go with friends after shopping or hanging out, the food is so restorative. It's also a great place to take a magazine, sit by yourself and have a bowl of soup. I'm never really that bothered by the noise, but the pros definitely outweigh the cons. The food is so delicious and the price is OK.
