That's what age group would best fit in here. My husband and I went to this place for dinner and drinks along with 3 other couples with whom we went to college with years ago. The food was tasty considering each entree was only $9. The drinks were also fairly cheap but we also left the place without any buzz going after 4 drinks including a large hot sake. We would have stuck around for more drinks with dessert after finishing our entrees if the wait staff had not kindly asked us to leave in order to seat the next party of 8. We ended up having to leave and go to a nearby lounge and pay a cover to chill and have drinks.

Republic might have a nice atmosphere, and be in hip union square, but the food is not so good. I ordered the Pad Thai and I don't know why people say it was good, but I strongly disagree. The food is not expensive, but after eating my meal I was dissatisfied, and I wished that I had gone someplace and paid more and gotten a real meal for my money. Basically, at Republic you are paying for a plain and bland noodle dish that is totally glorified in the menu.

I love having Republic on a rainy day! Amazingly fast delivery and tasty food is always welcome in my book. If you order Repulic expecting 5 star food I might understand the apathetic feeling, otherwise this is a great stand-by!

Waiting staff refused to seat our party of 4 outside, (seating area outside was empty), as they want couples only to sit outside... The music was far too loud to sit inside so our party was separated during dinner. Staff was uncaring toward us and put the check on the table while we were still eating... My pet hate. Not recommended. Maybe they're nicer to couples...

You can't beat their food and quick delivery. I love all of the broth noodles especially. Eating in can be a little noisey, but the service is always great.

I love all sorts of Asian food usually, but I think the flavoring of the food here is rather mediocre although the ingredients are of decent quality. The waitstaff is way too flippant about the level of service they're supposed to be giving customers; I usually feel neglected here. The best thing about this place in my opinion is the decor; I think they've done a fabulous job with the interior decorating both at the food space and the bar. It feels chic and bustlingly festive. So this is more of a bar restaurant for a drink or quick snack, but not a serious dining place for good asian food.

Yes, the portions are large but the food leaves something to be desired. I am not sure who said the pad thai here is so great but I strongly disagree. The vegetable dumplings to start were delicious but that's about all.
