This place is really good if you are looking for a good meal for an excellent price. This is definitely one of those places where you order your "usual" because you are going to find a dish you really like and stick with it. That's what happened to me with the Seared Marinated Salmon with Curried Rice. It's fabulous. This resturant has good food, great service, and a very chic atmosphere. My friends and I love this place and so will you.

Convenient to all fauxhemian hangouts and offers a solid menu. however, the best part is that its surprisingly fast...good for if you're making a movie.

I have been to Republic more times than I can remember. I've never had to wait for a table, the servers are nice and friendly, and my water is always filled. The Pad Thai and the Vietnamese vegetable noodles are my favorite items on the menu. Also the price is great, every meal is under 10 bucks!

Since Union Square is 1 of my favorite hang out spots and place to be, I walked by Republic dozen of times before. It was just like any other restaurants in the area. One day, my niece asked me to go, so I said fine, let's try this place. I was pleasantly suprised how big and spacious the place is. It was also nice and relaxed. The soup noodle was pretty good, and surprisingly, the mojito and the other drink we ordered was also good. This is an under-rated place for sure, and you should at least give it a try. And the prices were pretty good consider the neighborhood it's in.

I agree with the last reviewer that discussed finding a dish that you like and sticking with it. I order spinach noodles every time, and they're always the best dish that any of my friends have ordered. I say to them "trust me on this..." The lucky ones do. The others order the strange udon and end up sharing mine with me.

The trick with this restaurant is to find a favorite dish and stick with it. I've been multiple times and can't help but order the same great treat - the Salmon broth noodle dish - it is out of this world and completely satisfying. I keep ordering apetizers hoping that they'll be comparable, but they aren't. When a friend ordered one of the chicken broth soups she ended up eating half of mine because hers tasted like "pickle water". So no, not everything is delectable, but it is all afordable and some of it is well worth the dollar. The convivial atmoshphere is a major plus if your in the mood for it (or sit outside where it's tables for 2) and the sangria and lychee martinis are both exotic and delicious.

I've eaten at republic twice, ordered the pad thai once, and some rice and chicken dish the other time. the rice dish was definitely a little dry, but the pad thai was pretty tasty. the best thing is that the food is served incredibly quickly, and it's relatively cheap. don't go during a busy time if you don't like to sit right next to people you don't know, though.
