I recently went to Regionale with my family, including 2 small children, and was pleased with what we found. The decor is sparse, but then space is at a premium in this long, slim, rectangular slot. We arrived early and were seated and served quickly. As we neared 7:30, the place filled up, and the noise became an issue. Even so, the waitress was good about bringing food quickly (for the kids), and was helpful to the adults in terms of wine selection. Our dishes were all surprisingly good, though heavy, not what we'd been searching for when we'd chosen Italian. The desserts, however, were divine, and comparably light after the ragous. We were pleased with the less-than-typical Italian fare and plan to return. But with two new condo buildings opening just down the block, I fear this little place will soon burst with noise and spout interminable lines. Give it a try while the atmosphere's still palatable.

Friends invited us to try a "new" place last night. Wow, we were so impressed. We were seated promptly. The specials were described to us and all of our questions answered with great professionalism. We were unsure about some dishes and the waiter made wonderful recommendations. The pastas are all wonderful. I had the ravioli and we shared the appetizer of fried calamari with assorted seafood................amazing! It is a really fun place to go with friends. There is a great bar area. It is a great addition to the Upper West Side!

Even though they have been opened for a while I finally tried it this weekend. It was amazing! The pasta with duck ragu was just amazing as was the cheese platter. The waitstaff were really attentive. It was a great experience!

If you read some of the earlier reviews you get the idea that it was insider writing it. The ambience is a little odd, sorta like the ystarting decorating and then forgot to finish. The menu is inexpensive and varied and looks great at first glance. However the food doesn't match up to the descriptions. The portions were small but somewhat tasty (veal was overcooked, calimari stuffed with essentially tomato sauce). And the specials sounded great. The biggest issue was by far the service. They just couldn't get it together. Fortunately it was inexpensive and the wine list was good.

Amazing discovery! In a city where all italian restaurant seem to come from the same mold, Regional shines for being atypical. Good inexpensive food, a great wine list, varied and reasonably priced. Try the Homemade whole wheat noodles in duck ragout or the sausage in green olive sauce (comes with an incredible Pecorino cheese & fennel seed )focaccia) . I had a great Merlot from Veneto , offered as a special wine the night i went for $9. The decor is warm, if sparse and plenty of leg room makes it perfect for big parties( we were 10). maybe a bit noisy, but overall the service if not flawless was courteous enough to warrant an encore.

A friend and I stopped in for brunch on the weekend after seeing the "unlimited mimosas" sign outside. Brunch was excellent. I had the artichoke frittata and my friend had the vegetable frittata. The muffin and breads to start with were great and the bartender kept the mimosas flowing. The host was exceptionally welcoming of everyone who walked in. The high wooden table near the bar and the bar menu look like a lot fun. Can't wait to go at night and hang out there sometime. The UWS needs a nice wine, small plate bar...

We've been to Regional and loved what we ordered. Originally in love with the homemade whole wheat pasta with duck ragu, we've learned to find there are many more great tastes where that came from. We recently had the freshest fried seafood we've had in the states and great porsciutto, in addition thee buffala mozzarella melts in your mouth. The staff are friendly and great, the food consistent and delicious. I'm excited to go back to try the bar menu. I'm amazed this is unrated because its a great place for the neighborhood and worth the trip uptown.
