Absolutely delicious, fun, expertly-and-creatively prepared "freestyle" Chinese food. I crave much of the menu all day, every day. It's neither quiet nor intimate, but who cares?! The food is phenomenal.

We just finished brunch at RedFarm, and I was totally wowed. I've eaten Chinese all over the place, from food courts in Flusing, to tiny and giant dim sum places in Chinatown, to the myriad of takeout places on the UWS. But RedFarm truly stands out. The place is small -- a relatively small number of booths and tables, plus a large communal table in the center. But the noise in this crowded room was completely bearable. And The.Food.Was.Amazing. I got to NYC in the early '80s, when Ed Schoenfeld was the king of trendy Chinese, but had not heard much about him of late. If he was lying in wait, biding his time till he could truly surprise and delight us, he has succeeded. Our crispy beef small plate was, hands-down, the crispiest I've ever encountered, with a delightful sweet-spicy glaze and a lovely side of crisp lotus root slices. And our big, juicy soup dumplings were a triumph: better, even, than Joe's Shanghai in the old days. Fried lamb dumplings also highly recommended. Also recommended, the watermelon-ginger rum punch, which was subtle and delicious. In addition, the service is very sweet.

Heard so much about this place. Finally went last night and it is truly amazing. The watermelon martini is refreshing and the dumplings were off the charts.. Had all vegetarian dishes and they were just so tasty with delicious sauces etc.. Highly recommend it... Good to go for just two people though..it gets complicated if you have more...

I went to RedFarm last Friday night at 8:00 pm. At first the waitress said it was a 2 hour wait but quickly called me less than 1 hour later (which was great, as we were having drinks at a bar one block away). We were seated at the main family-style table in the middle of the restaurant which was fine. The food is amazing. I have had Chinese food all across the country, and Asia, and this was by far some of the best I have ever had. The Spicy Crispy Beef appetizer is an absolute must, it was super thin (the thickness of spaghetti) lightly fried pieces of beef in a flavorful spicy sauce. Totally delicious! The Pacman Shrimp Dumplings had huge chunks of fresh shrimp in them, and the fried sweet potato on the side was great. We also had a dim sum special of “soup dumplings” that were also good, the soup was flavored similar to French onion and were huge and super filling. I had the veggie fried rice which was had a wide variety of fresh vegetables (including a few different kinds of mushrooms) and tasted very fresh. For all of that and a bottle of wine our bill came to $80 which is a steal. If you like and appreciate delicious Chinese and dim sum and want an incredible meal without spending a ton of money- then go to RedFarm asap

These reviews are silly. The food at Red Farm is fine: it's as good as you'd get at any decent take out joint. It is, however, about twice as expensive. I had a sausage and dried scallop fried rice dish which was good. The sausage was better than what you'd normally get in a fried rice dish. The dried scallops were non-existent. I ordered the crispy beef which arrived at a temperature somewhere between wam and cold. It was not even as good as standard take out fare. I also ordered the kung pao dumplings. They were fine but I've had better dumplings for a dollar in Chinatown. These dishes, along with a tip and a Coke cost me $52. The atmosphere was basically "this is not a Chinese food restaurant" (you know... "we make Chinese food - only better - than all those Chinese-y places..."). Seating is fairly limited: more than half the seating is communal. If that's your thing, fine. I prefer to go out to eat with the people I'm with - not with complete strangers. To each his own. Service was adequate - typical nice-looking 20-somethings who aren't really professional waitstaff but are smart and capable enough to put plates on a table and remove them while smiling. So there you go. I can see no reason to go to Red Farm other than that you're the sort of person who hears about a new place and feels compelled to go there. If you do go to Red Farm, I doubt you'll go back.

Been there twice and loved everything we tried! Loved seating at the communal table, picking at other people food, wanting to try everything. Presentation of food was beautiful. Service was good. If it was less expensive, I would eat there every weekend.

We had some of the most interesting and tasty Chinese food at RedFarm. The lobster dumplings were beautifully cooked and the lobster tender and sweet. We shared the Rib Eye which was sone to perfection in a light sauce. The shrimp with cashews was wonderful. The shrimp were perfectly cooked and the vegetables and cashews were crispy. My only complaint was the liquor. The bartender measured all the drinks making sure not to give more than a jigger. She was also using a recipe book to make some of the more "difficult" drinks like a Mojito. And the wine pour was short to say the least with the bartender carefully measuring so she didn''t give more than a 1/4 glass. And making very sure if there were two glasses they had the exact amount bending to eye the glasses very closely. Give me a break. Stop being so cheap!
