after living in williamsburg over 4yr i can say that is the best asian food around. the meat is perfectly cooked , the veggies are steamed exactly right and the fortune cookies are crunchy......

considering that WB has so many asian themed restaurants, you'd expect it to have a real-deal, authentic cantonese style chinese restaurant. unfortunately, there is instead a saturation of greasy take-out/delivery places that cater to the inexpensive palates of the citizens. when this is your competition, it's not that hard to impress people who probably don't know what really great cantonese cuisine is. that having been established, red bowl is satisfactory if you want decent authentic fare that isn't swimming in grease or a #62 special. i took a gamble and ordered three different dishes and was not wowed. granted, i wasn't particularly disgusted either so that is a plus. however, i grew up eating cantonese cuisine and am used to either my mother's sublime fare or the stellar offerings of chinatown. what is nice about red bowl is that they have dishes you won't be able to get at your usual corner chinese joint. the quality of the ingredients are fresh. however, seasoning errs on the bland side, and portions are small for the price. but if you're looking for a respite from the deep fat fryer and a chance to enjoy traditional, authentic cantonese cuisine in WB without taking the J/M/Z to chinatown, this is your best bet.

This place is great, with good food, strong service and a great atmosphere. So much better than almost all of the restaurants that are actually on bedford. They will make whatever you want (that's chinese food, of course) if its not on the menu. Everything is fresh and tasty and with the unbearable glut of bad thai places (tai thai, I am looking hard in your direction, stop glaring back), this place truly stands out.

Oooo... The best chinese in the berg. While they have decent standards (the chow fun and black bean sauce dishes are always tasty) sometimes it's worth the splurge for some of their pricier specialties. I am a huge fan of their salted pepper prawns. Match it up with some baby bok choy in oyster sauce and it's a perfect meal. Their delivery is always fast and the place itself is a great spot to sit down and have a bite (clean, cool, and nice). I also recommend the noodles with meat sauce and their fabulous juicy buns that somehow keep the juice even when delivered. I'd recommend staying away from the ma po tofu... they make it without meat in this tangy/spicy sauce that just isn't for me.

This is a great restaurant in a cool and calm setting. The service is great the waiters are so helpful in helping you make a great selection. They are also very much down to earth. The food is great. I would definitely recommend this restaurant.

Red Bowl offers the best Chinese food in Williamsburg. While it's more pricey than your standard greasy counter, it's worth every penny. Everything I've had from Red Bowl is absolutely delicious and fresh...reminds me of those glorious saucy, sweet-salty-spicy dishes I grew up with in my neighborhood sit-down restaurant. The delivery is always prompt and professional.
