Having been a vegetarian for many many years, trust me when I say this place rocks. Despite long waits at popular times (the place is small), I recommend it. This is the place for people who like "fake meat" alternatives. Try the cajun fried shrimp, buffalo wings, butterfly soy chops, dante's cuisine and many other great choices. Great vegan desserts as well!! Bring meat eaters and they will be shocked at how similar things taste to the real version.

If you need your vegetarian meals tasty, meaty and fun this is your spot. With Decent prices and quick service. I like to take those who don't automatically have a positive response to non meat non dairy eating to illustrate just how satisfying this kind of food can be.

Extremely absentminded and slow service. I couldn't wait for dinner to be over, because I was falling asleep from the painfully long waits for everything. As for the food, I don't mind vegetarian food and was looking forward to something flavorful and healthy. Unfortunately, the food here is completely the opposite. They bread and deep fry a large portion of their menu and slather everything in sauce. Sure, there's no meat, but it was one of the most unhealthy meals I have had in a long time. Not recommended.

I have almost thought of moving so I can be closer to this restaurant. Seriously, don't laugh. The buffalo wings are the BEST ever and I have had them from Curly's and Kate's and nothing comes close to Red Bamboo. Also, the chef's specials are so fresh and flavorful. If I lived closer, I would be here 4 times a week.

I've been to both Red Bamboo locations, and i love the food at both. However, the Village location was a disappointment compared to the Fort Greene Bklyn location. The Brooklyn location is beautiful, to start, with an outdoor patio and cooshy seats. The service is amazing, especially from the blonde server with glasses who always treats you like his only customer. After having the great service experiences in Fort Greene, the village location seemed like just another restaurant with lazy and jaded servers. I'll never go back to the Manhattan location! So, being a server in Manhattan myself, I'm telling you it's worth the $4 roundtrip MTA fare to the Lafayette C for wonderful experience at the Fort Greene Red Bamboo.

I moved to NYC for this restaurant (no, really)- the food is amazing, the service is outstanding, the portions are HUGE, desert specials are always amazing. I wish there was a little bit more space for seating, there is usually a 30+ minute wait on weekend evening, and it sometimes gets cramped sitting close to other customers--but the food is so (so) worth it.
