The one in Brooklyn is better
I've been going to the one in Brooklyn for years and decided to pop in this one while in the village. The food was pretty much the same but the BK Red Bamboo has way better atmosphere.

Awesome food, cramped location
Food is great, alot of variety! The downside about the NYC location is that it's way to small for the crowds that come in. If you go to the on in Brooklyn, it's a totally different scene. The restaurant is big with inside as well as plenty of outside seating

Good outweighs the Bad
I am not vegan but 2 of my best friends are. This is one of the very few places in NYC where all of us can enjoy dinner together. Red Bamboo has potential to be a perfect dining experience except for when it's crowded which seems to be like every night near 8 PM. The food is great. The seats are very close together except for a rare few near the back. The staff is friendly when they have time to be...when I've gone and it was slow, the staff was very pleasant. But it seems like the staff is spread a bit thin at times. Getting a table when you are told is a gamble. With so few tables and customers just chillin' after they eat, it seems like you never really know when you'll get seated. But the good news is they take your cell # and will call you when your table is ready. Over all a good place to eat. I personally prefer it when it's slow, but if you have to eat during prime dinner hours bring your patience and a smile because attitude will get you nowhere at Red Bamboo.

Delicious food, poor service
Were told the wait would be 20 minutes, but it was really about 40, on a Tuesday! Very cramped inside. When waitress took drink orders, I ordered the Peche Lambic and she inexplicably offered the double size. When drinks came, I found my friend ordered the same (it was noisy) and the waitress never bothered to tell me we could have ordered a bigger bottle that serves 2 and save $2! Put me in bad mood for rest of dinner. Silverware was dirty; asked for replacement. My dad never got silverware; had to ask twice. Food was delicious when it came. Everything looked like meat, tasted like meat, but wasn't! I've been trying to find a restaurant in NYC like this similar to one I know in Orlando for a long time. I had to keep waiving the flies away from my food. They should have a bug zapper in there! After my first drink, I waited for a very long time to order another. Waitress said Riesling was sweet, but it was dry. My friend agreed: poor service. Left 13% tip.

Rushed
So, I had a great experience at this restaurant although I am really over the whole soy product thing after leaving this restaurant. I am over it simply because they over do the soy.. soy buffalo wings, soy fish sticks, etc... I thought too much soy was bad for you? Secondly after we paid the bill, we politiked a lil while longer, and the hostess came to the table and said "i know this may sound rude, but we need this table, so can you guys wrap up?" Yeah you made sure this took place after tipping the waitress huh? Well this is my review, and they dont have to worry about me returning! If you go, know that you should enjoy soy, and dont mind being rushed!

Great food, subpar service
I love the food. I hate the service after tonight, and will start looking to satisfy my vegan palate elsewhere. With a party of seven, two rounds of drinks, apps, entrees, and desserts for everyone, I was pretty taken aback when one of the waitstaff asked us to leave after an hour and forty-five minutes. We were ordering throughout our time there, the bill was a few hundred dollars, no one was being unruly. They just wanted to seat other people. It was really poor form as the last of the beers were still being finished. It's a shame, really. I love(d) this place. The food is amazing. But the attitude was really irritating. Moreover, we were seated under a sweaty AC unit and had to dodge water drops the whole night. Come on, Red Bamboo. If only the service were up to the quality of the food.

Smells GOOOD
Been here about a handful of times and every time the food was satisfying. they have awesome buffalo wings and chicken dishes. ALL their house made sauces are amazing. This place is always packed so expect a brief wait but its worth it. Now i want some of their chicken... drools*
