Great kosher option on the UES

I have been coming to this place since I moved to the city a year and a half ago and I love it!! It is probably one of the only kosher places open on Fridays/Saturdays which makes it a great option for those who want kosher meat over the weekend. The food could not be more authentic. My parents love thos place too and they are Israeli. Some of my favorite dishes are the chicken kabobs and the appetizer Middle Eastern Platter but overall you can't go wrong with anything.

    I Heart Rectangles!

I love this place - I've been going there since they were on the lower east side. Now they're in the neighborhood! Spectacular food, great middle-eastern pickles & olives, and there is never any problem when I want to substitute things! They always get the order right (and they always give me the extra pickles I want)! It's not cheap like a slice of pizza, but it's definitely reasonable, and a great value, especially if you share (do I hear combo platter?) Highly recommended. Especially if you're a vegetarian like me.

    top-notch food, decent service

I decided to write something about this excellent restaurant after me and the wife had our 10th meal there last night at least. I can not understand why people had problems with the service. It is prompt and courteous. The food, however, sets this place apart. I had whole red snapper last night and it was to die for. This place grills the whole fish and seasons it to perfection. The other great thing are the french fries which are home-made rather than the frozen you get in most restaurants. They were delicious and oil-free. Salad comes with the entree and you also get olives-pickles-beets appetizer to start with. This is really an exceptional place.

    unenjoyable experience

Just got back from lunch at the Rectangles...what little satisfaction I garnered from the food was overshadowed by the confrontational and confused waitstaff and mediocre service. Eating there was not enjoyable and I will not visit again.

    Great for a mixed crowd!

We had an eclectic group of 10 ranging in age from 19 to 35. We wanted a place not too expensive, that had a great ambiance, offered good food and alcohol (so those over 21 could enjoy a drink). That combo is very hard to find - I spent about 2 hours looking online. This place was perfect! The food was fantastic and the service was straightforward. We spent a long time there because it had a great atmosphere - so we could really enjoy lingering and talking. I highly recommend this place!

Best Kosher Middle Eastern on UES

The food was great. If you want to go on Saturday night, I recommend RSVP. It is hard to get the waiters attention. When ever I have family in town I take them there because its very reasonably priced for kosher. As an FYI, this is a kosher restaurant that is open on Shabbat and many holidays.
