    surprised

I am very surprised about the negative reviews. I live across the street from this place, and have been going there for 3 years without one negative experience. True indeed that raw food is not for everyone, but I think the quality of food here is great, always fresh. Regarding "smelly" comments, things like raw cabbage, raw garlic, etc are not as pleasantly aromiatic as raw basil, but we can't really fight with mother nature on that one :) :) The service has always been friendly, but yes, a little slow. I suppose that's what life is like when you have to put so much time into preparing the food. Regarding high prices, it really is no different from other raw food restaurants I have gone to, and I think the quantity you get for the price is more than reasonable (coming from a girl who, on a bad/good day, will go to Dinosaur BBQ and eat a few plates of wings, haha). Obviously, I'm not a pure raw foodist, but I highly recommend this place to anyone with a little patience looking to try something different. At the very least, they should be applauded as a healthy/unique dining option in the neighborhood.

I really wish I could give more stars

But I can't. I have been in there a few times, the service is extremely slow and rude. And I had take out that turned out to be bad once I got it home. The prices are ok-high for this neighborhood. But I will say that when you get something that is fresh it more than makes up for all the bad things about this restaurant as the food is yummy.

    Poor dining experience

Trying to consume more raw foods so I visited this cafe with my boyfriend. Personally, I would never eat there again. The person who took our order was rude and obnoxious. The food took quite a long time to arrive and when it finally did arrive, one of the entrees was so smelly and bad tasting, it was as if it was old. The other was the burger, which was ok. Hoping the desserts would make up for the entrees, was a mistake. The pie was was not good at all. To top it off, the prices were very high for the neighborhood. Would not go back.

    Lunch SPECIAL!!!

I had lunch here today and I have to say that I have never tasted meatless dishes that were so WONDERFUL. The gentleman at the counter was friendly and very helpful and I even picked up a bag of trail mix for later.....go on over and try it out.

raw foods in my hood, I love this place

I've tried to eat at all the raw foods places I notice, and this one compares favorably with any of them (and feels more homey and incredibly friendly, if not as fancy as some). In general I'm still getting used to the prices for raw organic food -- there can be some sticker shock -- but it really is worth it. It makes me feel amazing. If I could possibly afford it, I would get Raw Soul to just deliver most of the food I eat day to day.

    Great Vegan Dishes

Raw Soul is the best kept secret in upper Manhattan. They offer a variety of dishes fron avocado salad to falafel balls. Everything is vegan or live foods. My favorte dish is the raw pizza made of buckwheat crust, mushrooms, sundried tomatoes, black olives, green/red peppers. The basil pilaf is to die for. The menu changes daily but there are regular dishes such as, pizza, tamale pie and lasagna. The juice bar is now located on the lower level. I highly recommend the cheesecake. The atmosphere is very quaint. They have about 6 tables They also offer nutrition classes and food preparation classes.
