Good food, Good service, Good value

Had dinner last night with a few friends. We were seated at a high top in the bar waiting for a table. We ordered drinks and listened to some nice Sinatra and jazz on the house system. We were seated in about 20 minutes, by a very sweet and accomodating hostess. The burgers were sensational. Juicy, very very lean, and extremely tasty. The sides were great also. Loved the french fries and onion rings. All in all a very pleasant evening. By the way lots of young and pretty women at the bar. It makes waiting worth while.

    Really great burgers

This place is a nice find in an area with not too many great restaurants. The burgers are delicious, but the fry basket with 3 dipping sauces is a MUST.

    English in NYC

First time in New York and stayed at the Shelburne. Fantastic Hotel as was the burger bar. We found the food and service excellent and the staff very friendly and welcoming. I would certainly return for more.

    Pleasantly Surprised

We're from out of town and stayed at the Shelburne. Decided to give the restaurant a try. Boy were we surprised and pleased. The food, service and drinks were just perfect. The burgers and sides were just great. Loved the sweet potato fries. Stayed in NY for one week. Aside from a trip to Chinatown, and Little Italy, we ate in Rare three times. Can't get over the pleasurable evenings.

    Eat The Kobe Burger

Period. End of review. Eat it. Sure the service is sloppy and it is cramped, but I have never been happier with a 20 dollar burger in my life.

    Sad day for good burgers

The great burgers get lost in a mess of service follies and mind-numbing waits for your food at this expensive burger haven, while solid decor and a plasma help some, this place just has problems. Knowing you should appreciate waiting 20 minutes for your burger is fine, it's when the sides and toppings are always backwards is what's so frustrating. And weekends are worse with a smaller kitchen staff, they had to quit all take out altogether and the continually apologetic staff only was worth a few more trips before giving up, freshly ground burgers can be and are sometimes worth the wait, but the price tab and often errant staff kill the deal!

    Pleasantly Surprised

Anywhere you would dine out, one would expect a burger to be filling & satisfying. As for Rare, the entire experience, (aside from the unbelievable burger) exceeded my expectations and will be my new go to place. From start to finish I felt like I was enjoying an upscale dining experience as opposed to a local burger joint. The menu was diverse enough to appeal to my friends, while I wanted to go just for a burger. I would venture from anywhere to recieve the "Rare" experience.
