    great service, GREAT food

we went here for burgers and it was AMAZING! they have the rare burger which is a plain burger for $9 and then you add whatever you want from the bottom of the page for $1 each.. it ended up DELICIOUS! the basket of various fries included shoestring, sweet potato and waffle. stick with waffle, the other two aren't that good. the service was AMAZING, our serveuse was both friendly and just really funny. a great night out!

    Tough to Beat

Let loose and go on a topping tear at the West Village’s Rare. This downtown favorite defies burger creativity with a vast selection of condiments and extra’s. The ‘Murray’s Cheeseburger’ offers an ever changing special that is handpicked weekly by its “cheese team”. This attractive menu item introduces innovative ways to prepare some of the most delicious cheeseburger creations in Manhattan. Just a few blocks up from Rare stands Murray’s Cheese one of New York’s oldest and finest specialty cheese shoppes on Leroy Street. Rare has used its prime location to its advantage and has incorporated the many artisan cheeses available just a few doors up. Tonight’s Murray’s Cheeseburger, the waiter presents, is 8 oz. of organically raised American Chuck beef marinated in Blue Moon Belgian wheat beer with garlic infused Vermont Sharp Cheddar, caramelized onions, apple smoked bacon, fresh guacamole, lettuce, and seasonal heirloom tomatoes. Do I need to keep going or have you made your reservation yet? This will surely not leave your mouth disappointed if one is lucky enough to stumble in when this burger delight reappears on the menu.

    Delicious!

Delicious burger! Also for vegetarians, there is an amazing salad with a veggie burger on top. I could eat this salad every night for dinner.

    perfectly cooked burger

in the city for a couple of days...with a fella who was dying for a burger...nothing like i'd ever had...the meat was fresh, ground unusually fine and quite steaky in flavor. the fries with different sauces were really great, too. i had the sliders and they were yummmy!only complaint- hard to get a bud light in this city! prices reasonable for the city!

    worst service in years!

I went to this Rare location because I liked the one on Bleeker but was in Midtown for the day. From the moment I got there thing were terrible. The hostess wanted to seat us at the worst table in the restaurant (right at the footpath entering the kitchen and right at the speakers) even though the place has plenty of empty tables. My boyfriend and I ordered the spinach and artichoke dip to share as an appetizer, then a burger and fries to share as a main. I went to the restroom after we ordered, and when I got back I saw the table was packed with all of the food at once! We tried to eat everything bit by bit but everything got cold within minutes, and the burger itself was served lukewarm so was cold by the time I tried it. The waiter then walked by and asked if everything was OK and didn't wait for my response. When I was finally able to confront the waiter, he said that I told him to do that...WHY WOULD I SAY THAT?? Thanks for blaming me for your mistake!!! Can't even tell you if the food was good b/c it was all cold before I got to most of it.

    Best value for your money...

a friend of mine invited me to have dinner here cause she has been frequenting this resto for quite sometime ( every weekend!) and has been telling me of how great the food is... i did and was very impressed. i work as a waiter around the area and never did i find any resto that serves great great food and is affordably priced! The service is also good and they're very friendly. We shared the rib eye steak ( believe me it was big!) for only 26$ served with my favorite spinach risotto ( too bad you cant order extra ) had a very good margarita too. i too frequent this place now. You'll definitely get the best value for your money...

    Great Portabello Burger

I have never had a portobello burger before but last night after work my co-workers and I headed to this pub across the street from the office. It was amazing. The burger was a perfect combination of sauce and mushroom. The greens on the burger with the mushroom were perfecly flavored! The burger was not soggy. The fries were also excellent. This is a great place to go after work or for casual dining. It was not that expensive and the food was top quality for a burger joint!
