Disappointment
I went there this past weekend and the food was ok. I usually eat in Astoria for Greek food. Meat was dry and there was a lot of salt and fat in the dishes. Live music was good. The service was just ok. I received the check but it was from another table. Then I paid and the waitress only brought back a portion of my change! I had to tell her that I gave you an extra $50.00 because I had no change. I previously requested her to bring me the change twice before that! When the music started, the wait service was more interested in the people dancing than catering to the people eating dinner! If you want to waste alot of money for a few hours, this is your place.

Great food, excellent service
A great discovery, a little off the beaten path on 1st avenue in the Upper 30's. The staff were friendly and very attentive from the moment we arrived, but never overbearing, and the food was some of the best Greek I've had in Manhattan (other favorites are Kellari and Molyvos). We started with the traditional spreads and pita, the baked Haloumi cheese and the hot Octopus appetizer marinated in Red wine, all superb renditions of traditional favorites. Entrees we sampled included a delicious casserole of shrimp in tomato, feta, and olive oil and a lovely grilled Bronzino -- their menu of grilled fish is especially impressive. I look forward to returning to try their lamb. Dessert was some of the best baklava I've ever eaten, a good dash of cinnamon tempering the honey's sweetness. As a resident of Murray Hill, I'm delighted to find such a great Greek restaurant just blocks from my apartment, and this is a new neighborhood favorite -- but even if you're not a local, Rafina is worth a trip.

A great find!
The best of the Greek Restaurants I've been to in NYC. The chef is terrific, the food wonderfully fresh, and the service attentive and friendly. The owner came to our table to greet us and was there to say good night. This is a lovely looking restaurant and in warm days you can sit outside near the beautiful fountain. But the food is what's so impressive. Simple, tasteful, Greek offerings. Try it. You'll love it.

Sanitized Greek Food
We eat frequently at Greek restaurants in Manhattan and Astoria. We found the food at Rafina to be inauthentic, and way overpriced. The "Greek" salad wasn't really Greek. My pasticio was heavy and the bechamel was poorly made. The servings were stingy, and we were still hungry when we left. This is sanitized food that only people who have never tasted the real thing could enjoy.

Great Greek Food in Murray Hill
Rafina is large and has a very pleasant ambiance. The food is very fresh and it is great if you go with a few people and order a variety of appetizers and a couple of entrees. The cold appetizer sampler and the spanikopita are delicious. They grill a great fresh fish. The owner and servers are attentive and pleasant. Try it!

Wonderful Addition to Murray Hill Dining Scene
I have been to this restaurant three times so far and have had a wonderful experience each time. The food is extremely fresh, well prepared and generous in portion. This restaurant is one of the most beautiful ones in the neighborhood (I love the outdoor seating for the warmer weather by the fountains). Since so many of the restaurants in Murray Hill cater to the "fraternity house" clientele of the neighborhood, this place stands out as a great alternative for us grownups. Highly recommended!

First and last time there
Tried this place a couple of days ago, very disappointed in the food, and even more disappointed in the service. There are better deals in the area, frankly with better quality food. Appetizers were average (and a bit pricey for what it is), and the fish I had was overcooked. My sister had the lamb which she thought was dry and didn't finish it. The service was slow, and the waiters were rude (looked bored). totally not worth it.
